As I mentioned in a different thread, that depends entirely on what the bottleneck causing this crunch actually is. The article tells us that there are employees working 70-100 hour weeks, but not where these people are.

Yeah did some math and it is actually a good gig to pay for a pretty nice car. Which is perfect for like a stay at home parent or high school student. Basically anyone who just needs a little extra. You also get some tax help with that car you wanted and needed for this job.
Then they’d have to go ask for a job in person instead of through an app or whatever.
I’m not arguing that Amazon sucks for employees, but why do this kind of work? If it’s risky, stop doing it! Go deliver pizza or subs if you need a side gig. 5 mile range usually and you’ll probably make as much money. Or join one of the contracting fleets if you want to make it a job. I genuinely do not understand…
I get that Amazon is well documented as a terrible place to work, but Flex really is set up for the casual side hustle and is not supposed to be anyone’s FT job. If it’s so bad, they don’t need to do it, it’s pretty simple.
I’m in no way trying to apologize for Amazon here... but doesn’t it sound like this program was designed as a part time “something extra every once in a while” and the complaints are coming from people who are expecting it to be a full time option?
I got half way through the first account and wow dude, either stop complaining or stop driving for Amazon. if you know the conditions and the risks and don’t like them stop doing it.
In February, the LA Times reported that Amazon was systematically stealing Flex drivers’ tips.
no rights or influence over their own working conditions
Work for USPS, last year we were delivering a lot of Amazon packages. This year, the volume from them has dropped by 70-80%. I am curious about the delivery experience for customers now vs. last year, it does seem like the quality would have to be lower given the issues highlighted by the letters.
Pretty damn easy solution for these drivers—you don’t like the deal Amazon offers, don’t accept it and do something else. You’re not an employee, and Amazon owes you nothing beyond the terms of the contract. Enough drivers quit doing this, and Amazon will offer better terms. Until then, all the whining and complaining…
Sounds like they would be better off NOT DRIVING FOR AMAZON. I’ve heard complaints about Uber/Lyft and Uber eats, but surely it is better than this? And surely not that saturated that they can’t pick up fares.
I guess I was sleeping when Amazon forcefully rounded up people and made them Flex Drivers. Where are they being held? Maybe we can bust them out!
Man Upset That Optional Side Gig Doesn’t Offer Full Time Pay or Benefits
The simplest solution is for drivers to simply stop doing it. These people existed before Amazon flex was a thing. Go back to doing that.
You change a company as a little guy by not playing by its rules as a group. If the pay/conditions are really that terrible, just stop doing it. Otherwise, it’s an admission that…
People also automate this process through various means and there is a whole shadow economy of tapper apps, hacks, and robots that are being sold to people for hundreds of dollars to help get blocks.
I’m confused as to how this is a threat? Yes, release these people into a city that wants to protect basic human rights. That isn’t some sort of threat, that is actually doing something that a lot of people involved in Sanctuary Cities and Immigration Rights would actually welcome.
He said it doesn’t affect anyone else. And he’s correct. I agree that it can change how you experienced the game though I think your ending analogies aren’t entirely apples to apples.
This is like someone who enjoys rough anal sex judging someone for enjoying some light fingering instead. If it isn’t your asshole, it’s none of your business.
You joke but there was a column that asked “A server insulted my grandmother to her face, do I still have to tip 20%?” and salty basically answered “If anything you should tip more as a good tip in the face of bad service could bring her out of her funk and really turn her night around!”
