Umm...that's the point - I was responding to the previous post that was saying movie piracy/breaking copyright is nothing like stealing, because you still "own" the film/song afterwards. I was saying yes - it's more like trespassing/violating that person's right to not let people see the film without permission. Ergo

Yes, maybe it should be mandatory to add a sermon on evolution to every church schedule.

They're not necessarily the problem, and not necessarily abnormal or more expensive. Noone designates them that way. But if it turns out the coming up with the new design set is more expensive, or that there's a smaller market - and therefore the products are more expensive - then thats because it is.

Servers are supposed to report their cash tips at tax time and pay taxes then. I mean, it's one of those things that noone ever does. Kind of like how you are supposed to keep track of all your internet purchases, and pay sales taxes at the end of the year on everything you buy on Amazon. But yea - they can't really

Yea though it's actually illegal tax fraud for servers to not report the full cash tips and pay the same amount of taxes.

which was which? I actually can't tell since you said you went home sad from both.

Well I think it's more that preferences to be identified with one gender rather than another is biological. The pink/glittery/frilly stuff you cite are the sociological constructs of manifestations of the genders, so someone who is biologically inclined to identify as female, would also identify with expressing that

That's the problem when you make a joke that is a little bit too close to plausible. There's no indication that it is a joke, because it is a perfectly sensible response to the article given what the article says.

I can sorta understand affinity for weapons being biologically based - but not so much colors like pink and blue, because these associations of colors and frills etc. with genders is definitely a social construct - and recent one at that. A few hundred years ago - pink would be considered a masculine colour, and just

ladeefrickenda -"It is out there but it is not easy to find nor is it usually free. And no way in hell am I paying for porn."

Well if it has then economics means this discussion is moot anyway. Money is money. If the market for plus-size clothing has grown enough that it makes economic sense to make more and more styles in those sizes - then it will happen. In fact it is happening as evidenced by this article, and designers such as tahari.

80% of women who fit into the standard sizes of XS-XL. Not everyone who is not fat is thin. It goes from significantly underweight, a range of regular weight (which I am defining as being still able to fit into regular sizes), and then individuals who are significantly overweight.

Well as I pointed out, she was able to buy clothes that fit her in a variety of styles, just they she had to order them from Japan. Since there are a lot more people with her body type there - there's a large enough market for clothes her size to make it economically viable.

Telling your child to not eat Gluten without any medical reason is nothing like restraint and not eating 2 cookies. It's like reading in a magazine somewhere that green vegetables are bad for you, then telling your kid - ok no more green vegetables for you, you are only allowed to eat carrots and beets from now on.

That's a good point - and tbh with population trends, I really think that eventually fashion companies will have no choice but to serve the plus-size market more effectively, but it's just a matter of time.

No thin people aren't entitled. I have friends who are actually really thin (they're not anorexic - but just naturally very slim, and one has a gastrointestinal disorder). And trust me, they cannot buy clothes in many stores - and the majority of styles do not have sizes that go below 00. In fact that's why they have

Well you said everyone elses except for yours is too high. Same thing. And it's not workers comp for taking a bullet, otherwise no soldier who has ever not taken a bullet - or been otherwise injured would be allowed a pension. Government workers who worked for 30+ years at below market wages but factoring in their

Yes hopefully it will, but those things will come with higher costs and take time. So hopefully articles like this will raise awareness - but just pointing out that it's not simply a "condescending" attitude that's limiting the options, but economic as well.

Yes, but it's a different market, and until that market grows larger the options will be slimmer and they will cost more. It's good to raise awareness so that more options and research will occur, but you can't ignore the fact that it will take expensive research, time, and it will cost more than standard sized

I was using an analogy- people with needs for larger surroundings are not automatically owed the right to own them without paying more. People who are at the far tails of the distribution who have specialist needs for clothing are not entitled to have every single style customised for them at the same price.
