Her first album is not bad. The songs aren’t amazing, but her backup band sounds like Faces.
I try and stay away from movies and shows whose titles mix capitals and lowercase. It’s never steered me wrong.
Short list for casting Roger Ailes:
Yes I got it
As a teenager I read almost everything King had written up to that point, from Carrie to Gerald’s Game. (That includes the short stories but not the Bachman stuff, because I didn’t much like Thinner.) Then I either got snobby or developed taste, depending on your politics, or maybe I just burned out. But The Dead Zone…
Fuck yeah Paths of Glory is better than The Shining. You don’t need an encyclopedic knowledge of movies to know that. And yes, I get it.
Issue #1: It’s been awhile, but I remember Tom Cruise being pretty A-grade excellent in Rain Man. Between him and Dustin Hoffman, I think he had the tougher, more demanding role.

I liked the theme song a lot
Once, after this song came on a jukebox, a friend of mine remarked that Bruce Springsteen is just about the only guy on Earth who can get away with calling himself “pilgrim.”
Tunnel of Love is maybe my sixth favorite Springsteen album, and I mean that as a compliment. It takes a little while to get off the ground but by the second half it’s just about as good as anything he’s ever done. Criticisms about its production are grossly overstated. “One Step Up” is the one that brings tears to my…
That’s weird, I can distinctly remember this going, “I didn’t know I was lost at the time/on Arlington Road/on Arlington Road yeah”
While Chesil Beach itself remains the gold standard in British coastal beauty (the ultimate rocky getaway, with the water a sumptuous 11 degrees—perfect for sunbathing in a wool suit), I must admit the hotel accommodations left much to be desired. Complimentary breakfast ran out of kippers before 7 a.m., the manager…
