The ‘86 STX 4x4 I built for my kid in 2016. Had 63K original miles on it when I bought it in April of ‘16. Crude as hell, but dirt cheap to work on, and the 4.10 gears and 108" wheelbase made it a mountain goat.

Friend of mine has been running around Florida with one for awhile. M62TU with a fully functional OBDII setup. It is truly a delicious experience.
Best quote I’ve seen is by a user on M3forum. “Not driving your M3 to keep the mileage low is like not %@!*ing your girlfriend to make her more attractive to her next boyfriend.”
The ARO nearly made it to US dealers as the Crosslander 4x4 around 2002 or so. Issues with federalizing it and available cash being what it was, it never happened, but Egads did I want one with the proposed 2.8L IH turbodiesel.
