Gah, my husband and I had at least three date nights before I was off of maternity leave. Granted, we made it maybe two hours outside the house before we were too exhausted to do anything else but we still made it.

My 3yo had photos done at preschool and when they first thrust the album at me to try and get me to buy some of the portraits, my reaction was basically “oh hell to the no, we have plenty of photos thank you very much.”
I definitely take the same approach with my toddler as I do with my rambunctious lab - If he’s annoying the fuck out of me I take him to the park and let him run until he’s too exhausted to be annoying.
I’m pregnant with my second and I’m amazed at how exhausted I am now, even though I’m working part-time now and was full-time the first time around. My first pregnancy, I went to the gym five days a week up until months 8-9; this time, I lost the energy for it around month 6. My 3 year-old consumes so much of my time…
Yep. For me and my husband (when deciding to have a second, at least - the first one was unplanned) the question was whether we do it now, when we’re young and potentially taking a step back in our careers (to allow for more scheduling flexibility) wouldn’t be a big deal, or waiting until we’re financially stable…
My husband and I took our 3-year-old to see this movie yesterday, and we had a great time. Most of the concepts went over his head, I think (I doubt he understood the imagery of the brain/memories) but the general idea of the way that we react to events and how our emotions inform our reactions and how people act…
I bawled like a fucking baby.
That’s because they don’t have much other choice, bruh. Condoms have a high margin of error, IUDs can be painful and expensive (and it’s hard to find a doc who will give them to you if you haven’t been pregnant before, IME), and most of the other options still have the hormonal side effects. It’s “not seen as anything…
They will inject you with a local anesthetic near your cervix, so insertion probably won’t be too bad.
But you know, women getting IUDs that hurt like fucking hell and cause cramping and bleeding for the next 24 hours is just dandy.
THIS! Or my favorite, those who make a point of saying repeatedly “I’m a server too, I know how it is.” Usually after apologizing for moving tables three times or asking for tons of special requests.
Ha, agreed! And the one I posted, since it was still early, actually showed the tiny baby-shaped shadow. It looked like a little gummy bear. Still though, photos of inside my uterus.
I’m nosy too. I became a journalist, which doesn’t help. My husband ends up apologizing for me a lot.
I agree with this 100%, but Kara is suggesting that speaking about “private” things is tactless. Which ends up sounding a lot like perpetuating a stigma, you know?
See, I’d be OK with this if it were more socially acceptable to refuse to answer a question. I think there’s something weird about how people need to be on guard for others who ask questions that they can’t say no to (example: I was just reading about the importance of training kids around dogs - a good thing! -…
Aw man, I posted photos from the ultrasound and then took them down because, uh, I’m posting photos of my insides. It’s really early in the pregnancy and those photos were taken by a big dildoish wand in my hoohah. That feels a little bit like an overshare.
That was the part that made me do a double-take. The company claims the layoff is for budgetary reasons, and then hires two employees to replace the one?
Agreed in theory but really the whole “I chose you” thing is kind of weird to me. Like, the parent chose to have a baby. They didn’t choose what baby they would have (like, personality traits). That all was pure happenstance.
Not sure that’s fair since pop music tends to be liked by young women far more than young men, so it makes it near impossible to come up with counterpoints
It’s a youth thing- pop music that the youths like = worthy of scorn.
