Are the fees imposed by the store itself or do you mean the fees imposed by the cards? Debit-like gift cards that are universal typically carry fees whereas store-specific cards do not. If that store does impose its own fees, then that's a pretty inane practice.

I thought that it might be a good opportunity for Amazon to extend their affiliates program to physical stores, thus helping to prevent them from being shuttered altogether. This would be similar to how the "Fulfilled by Amazon" program works as well.

The difference is that Win + D brings you to the desktop even from within the Metro apps. Pressing the Win key from Metro apps simply brings you back to the Metro home screen.
