The ForFour was a Mitsubishi Colt in drag, so if you got the Colt you got it. Otherwise pretty unremarkable (except perhaps for the Brabus version).

Couldn’t agree more.

I’ll just leave this here...  Denise and Phil Hill at the 2003 USGP.

Len invited me to the dinner. He and I were friends for years.

Sometime back in the ‘60s, I saw an ad somewhere for a rag called “Competition Press”.  I was into all types of racing as a teenager, so I subscribed sight unseen.  It was everything I hoped it would be, and it introduced me to Denise.  I’ve been a huge fan of hers ever since.  She had a way of writing so that you

I ‘fell in luv’ with Denise McCluggage probably somewhere around the late 70s. Her skill with the quill was only closely matched by her heel and toe! She educated me, entertained me and, yes, I think a couple of times she may have even infuriated me ;~] She will always be my #1 woman in motorsports. It is also, in

Here she is at Sebring in a ‘67 Ferrari 275 NART Spider (yup, they raced ‘em, hard). It was repainted burgundy later that year for Steve McQueen to use in The Thomas Crown Affair.

Thanks to some extraordinary good luck in my twenties, I was able to meet Denise back in the 90s and have a fairly involved chat at a dinner with her, the late Len Frank, and a couple of other fairly significant folks in motorsports.

Make no mistake, anyone with McCluggage’s resume is undeniably epic, and I have nothing but the greatest respect for her accomplishments. My comment, of course, was rife with tongueincheekiosity, no disrespect intended.

There’s nothing quite like taking your rear-engined Skoda out on the modern, bustling highway for a high-speed blast to wherever.

Here’s a picture of her later in life with, of course, a Saab.

Shit in that closeup shot of the rear of the BMW the car has a small single tailpipe. It’s a 528e or maybe even a 520e

What a great story! It made me think of my childhood neighbor, Dr. Lewis Jackson, who, I learned much later in life was an instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen.

Raul Julia was an outstanding actor. Serious or funny. And he was absolutely born to play Gomez Adams. RIP.

It will be interesting to see the reaction to The Gumball Rally from a younger generation that didn’t live through the 70s or the tragedy of the 55mph speed limit. A lot of it is really, really dated but there are some glorious car moments. And Busey. It has Busey.
