That sounds like a problem that would be solved by enforcement, not by violating yet another law.  Have you brought this up with your local police/municipal government?  Or at least riled up the Karens on Nextdoor?

Bikes absolutely should not be on the sidewalk. Bikes behave like vehicles, not pedestrians. You want cyclists to be visible and predictable, and having them launch out of sidewalks into the crosswalk when you’re making a right turn is neither visible nor predictable.

Kids shouldn’t be taught to ride on the sidewalk, either.

Depends on the smog guy and why you’re there. A regular tech doing the visual for your biannual inspection isn’t going to be as thorough as the smog ref going over your car because you got a ticket for illegal modification.

Depends on the tech. We’re not far from the point where it’s cheaper and easier to swap out a screen than tear the dash apart to fix a busted speedo.
