Sounds like typical old “collectors” who would rather see cars sealed away in climate-controlled garages as art pieces rather than actually keeping them driving on the road.

Who exactly is this car for? This looks like the mildest mid-life crisis you can have. “Well, I bought a new car... well, yeah, it’s still a Camry, of course it is, I’m not irresponsible. But it’s a sporty Camry! It says racing on it!”
And more importantly, the turbo-4 is torqey. It feels more like V8 grunt than a high output NA V6 ever will, making it a much better “compromise” motor when you’re not springing for those extra cylinders.
As long as there’s one good straightaway where the drag of the wing reduces the top speed, the car WILL go faster without it. It’ll almost certainly have a slower laptime, but laptime != top speed.
They still do this heavily with Transformers. It’s pretty rare to have a unique use of a mold. Most will get at least one straight repaint with at best a different headsculpt.
Were the LFA and NSX ever referred to as “hypercars”? Near as I remember, they were still “supercars”, and to this day would still only be considered super and not hyper.
Near as I’m aware, hypercars started with the Veyron... but I don’t know any objective definition to quote to qualify that.
This makes sense. Low-powered sports cars are where there’s the most lost/least gained going with an automatic. I’d bet the take on manuals in the FRS/BRZ/GT86 is relatively high, too.
lit up the car’s blues and reds because they were unfamiliar with the oddly shaped people transporter
I still think the CT200h is a fantastic looking car. If I were in the market for a hybrid commuter, it would either be that or a manual CR-Z.... and I’d probably lean towards the Lexus if I had a commute that benefited enough from picking up a hybrid that I actually bought one with my own money.
Uh, what? Automatics are terrible for controlling speeds on descent. And they’re not great with lots of sub-stall speed crawling because you don’t have the airflow to get rid of the heat that builds up.
You know what would make the Mustang an immediate buy for me?
It’s not an official trim made by GM, it’s not turbocharged, and it’s not AWD. This is as much a Syclone as those converted 5th-gen Camaros are a Trans Am.
Yeah, but that’s got Shelby’s name on it. Old rich dudes will buy literally anything with a Shelby badge, and they’ll happily pay $39k over sticker for the privilege. “Syclone” doesn’t have near the Barrett-Jackson cred (at least not yet).
Now call it a “Yenko”, and they’ll start throwing their wallets at you.
It wouldn’t be the first time the Corvette shit in the Ford GT’s cereal. The C6 Z06 was every bit as fast (faster by some metrics) as the same-year GT but cost half as much.
My hope is that this causes Ford to make a more competitive GT. But considering they dropped all their cars but the Mustang. it looks like they’ve…
It really is a shame we got a reboot rather than the third Pearlman/DelToro movie. The previews for this just seem to lack the charm of the earlier films that so fits the feel of the comic.
I want a new SE, but if I wanted a thin bezel-less phone, I would have bought one of the myriad already available. I LIKE BEZELS. Gives me a place to hold the damn phone, and for things like front-facing speakers to live. Really, I just want wireless charging back. I miss that from my Nexus 6.
It’s a lifted ‘80s Chevy with a 350, just like 8 billion other ones. Condoms are on the dash because owner’s had no chance to use them.
Well, if you don’t want a Miata, I can’t really help you, but this might:
Crosstrek with the drivetrain from the WRX would be about my ideal car. Just big enough, with suspension that can actually bomb around these pothole-infested roads.
Maybe should just do the battlecar treatment on my speed3.
Maybe “puritanical”, then? We all know how much Puritans hate fun.
