I would definitely take an Elantra GT over a Corolla S. I wouldn’t mind finding one of the early Corolla XRSs with the 2ZZ, though at that point may as well get the Matrix XRS and have the extra practicality of the hatch, and at that point why give up my speed3?

That wasn’t the sport trim, that was the “S”, which Toyota just sort of let people think was a sport trim. The last actual sport trim for the Corolla was the XRS

You have my interest. When there’s a GT-S or XRS you’ll have my attention.

I really don’t get why anyone buys an Audi _5 if they want four doors. Why wouldn’t they get the _4, _6, or _7? The _5 was the only coupe aside from the TT, and it was by far the best looking front-engine Audi.

I can think of no better option that for GM to resurrect this nameplate:

Oh, I completely agree with you. We saw what happened last time when Caddy made their own motor in the XLR. I’m guessing that GM will still put an LT in the CTS-V CT6-V. It’s really hard to justify the added complication and expense of a turbocharged DOHC V8 when the pushrod mill is smaller, lighter, cheaper, makes

Cue “y no LS?” in 5.. 4.. 3... 2...

Ahh, gotcha. Apologies on the confusion.

I’d be shocked for any company to put out a car with “crap” right in the middle of the name.

Yes and who but enthusiasts is buying a $60k Mustang? I would think non-enthusiast buyers are picking up Ecoboosts and California Specials.

Not talking about the 5.4. I’m talking about the supercharged 5.8L they used in the last two years. That’s the ~662hp motor.

I’m gonna be a lot more excited when Ford stops branding SVT cars with “Shelby”.
I am curious about the motor, though. The last two years of the previous GT500 had that supercharged 5.8L that was unique to it. The current GT350 has the Voodoo 5.2L that’s so far unqiue to it. Is this GT500 going to get a unique engine,

Mk IIs are my favorite for looks, but the 5M-GE doesn’t excite me. I know that 7Ms don’t swap as easily as they should, but maybe it’s a good place to sink a swapped-out 2JZ-GE? The Celica Supra’s small enough it should still be plenty of fun without the turbo.

Subjectives gonna subject, but my list goes Mk 2 > Mk 3 > Mk 4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mk 1

It’s a shame the Supra started with the gen 2 Celica; a gen 1 liftback-based Supra would have approached 2000 GT levels of sexy.

Do you actually mean a third gen:

Fuck it, why not? We all know names of cars, especially German cars, bear no relation to what they actually are. We’re in the world of the BMW 440i Gran Coupe and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the Honda NC700D Integra.

Having comments be properly threaded and the ability to collapse comment trees. I have to go out of my way to read more than just the handful of comments the system shows at the top, and trying to follow the flow of conversation is just silly.

I know a lot of people don’t like Reddit, but gorram if they don’t have how

Wonder if that’s a regional thing, or if what I think of as “hard core” isn’t so hard core; the guys I’ve been around always swore by manuals because that gave them much better control on descent.

Well, legally, those things that open rearward aren’t “doors”. They can’t be opened on their own, you have to open the doors, then you can open the “opening panels”. So, RX-8 technically is still a two-door, just like an extended-cab pickup or a Honda Element.

See, you say “coupes have two doors, sedans have four”, but the 1982 Granada 2-door sedan exists, and there’s no one in their right mind that would call this a a coupe.
