I just realized that there will be no more YTW until next year. That really bummed me out.

Pardon me for toading the wet sprocket, but this Carly-For is kepringly duprous.
Says that I think the black album is juvenile and has too many pouches, disproportionately large torpedo-shaped breasts, and tiny, terribly-drawn feet (musically speaking). :)
We can agree to disagree. And in my opinion, the black album is the Rob Liefeld of Metallica's output.
I've found my people. Bless you, sir. Elsewhere on the AV Club, I described the black album as my personal Vietnam.
Oh yes. And then he gets pissed off at people with actual talent and ability calling him out, considering that Metallica had no problems taking pot shots at bands who could actually play - like Winger, who as a band never wrote any songs of real note - but those motherfuckers could fucking shred.
Just pretend the black album and everything that followed didn't happen. Then you'll be able to think about Metallica's music without having to consider the band itself as a qualifier.
"What’s often understated about Metallica’s best work is that it found ways to utilize Lars Ulrich’s subpar drumming…"
ATCQ is the only rap act from the 90's that followed me into the new millennium. No one has been as musical, contemplative, mischievous, and pointed as this group while avoiding the juvenile testosterone-filled antics that characterized the genre for so long (although the GZA tries).
Okay, now that I've slept and am somewhat conscious -
Glad my music nerdery was of some use!
I have more thoughts for tomorrow. But for now, I'm going to leave with this:
Genuinely disappointed not to see a "The Heart, She Holler" segment.
Okay, just watched this on Amazon. My one-sentence review: "Of the many unexpected things in this film, the most jarring was Millie's boobs."
I've personally never understood the reverence people have for LTI. Check Your Head and Ill Communication are undisputed masterpieces, tho, for good reason.
This is the most musical thing I've heard from her ever.
Isabelle Huppert is amazing, and reading this review has me really excited to see Elle. I wish she would do more American films (although the movie itself was uneven, I really liked her in Hal Hartley's Amateur), but I'm happy with the European films of hers I get to see.
"Insert"
Japanese nobility in occupied Korea (The Handmaiden). Jailbait in Kevin Spacey's head (American Beauty). Kether Donahue always (in my dreams).
The screencap for this movie on the AVClub's lead page makes it clear that Hopkins was waiting for his check to clear.
