The production of this song literally sounds like some shit made on Guitar Band that was intended for some kind of "Rock For 5 Year Olds" album. In fact, just change up the lyrics a tiny bit, and it would be perfect for a cheap attempt to sell "rock" to little kids.

Now all I want to do all day is imagine what the original, lamer name was. I don't want to google the band or anything resembling research. I just want to speculate.

I absolutely agree that this is one of the better Hatesongs in a long time. The first several had a lot of gems, but lately, this feature's been lacking.

I suspect that an earlier draft of this episode probably alluded to Gretchen's fetish, but it was edited out because there was already so much going on at the funeral. Besides the eulogy/heckles scene, you also had Ben Folds' unexpected arrival, the Paul/Linds/Becca stuff, and the Vernon/Edgar scene. I'm not sure

I feel like this was Gretchen's attempt to make the memorial service hella sexy, given her weird funeral fetish.

I'm kind of surprised that you missed the "Brick" phenomenon, even if you never listened to the song. For a few months in the late 90's, the meaning of the song was a really popular conversation item.

I love that YTW is actually moving forward with the "Lindsay Hotwife" subplot. But I'm waiting for the weird thing that Paul will want to do that will somehow turn Linds on.

I, for one, welcome Sam and Ben geeking out over rags and writing about American Craftsman style homes.

I will be so pissed if Chow Mein Raccoon doesn't show up in the inevitable Internet Pets Cruise.

As much as I like Brie Larson and the idea of a woman character taking the lead in an MCU movie, the idea of a Captain Marvel film - origin story or not - leaves me cold.

That was the scene that sold me on Venture Bros.

The character Lindsay from You're The Worst owes a lot to Katy Mixon's Victoria from Mike & Molly. Which is not a slam on Kether Donahue - I think both actresses have brought a lot of life their characters, both of who often outshine(d) the ostensible leads.

I will always prefer Alien to its sequel - but that's like saying I'll always prefer emeralds to rubies. Both are gems of filmmaking and movie magic.

You devil!

Point 3: Apparently, along with satire, you also don't understand how racism works. It must be nice to be ignorant of literary and social conventions and to write so incorrectly about them.

Ah, I get it. You're right - I don't see the Coolie Club and the International Order of Charlie Chans getting their panties in a bunch. I'm assuming that the social media wing of Fu Manchu Inc. is too busy kidnapping white women to watch Fox News.

Or the real police have been ordered for some weird reason to put all offenders at that address in that cell. Considering how convoluted this scavenger hunt was, that's also a legit possibility.

I thought the book was ripe for a Lifetime adaptation, and it sounds like I was more-or-less correct. It's a fun beach read. I suppose I'll watch this when it inevitably hits the streaming services.

"I am frightened by puzzles and general trickery" is the line of the night. So psyched to see Sam, Honeynutz, and Shitstain again.
