Dunno how much has changed since I was there earlier this century, but I got to be around a lot of other black folk working for a campus tutoring organization that helped elementary school students in Berkeley and Richmond. It was actually started by a couple former Black Panthers from the 60s.

Well deserved, but damn, how deeply sad a story.

as Davis pointed out to NPR, football players can do what they damn please.

Somehow, women pretend that women like this don’t exist, even though there are literally millions of them. I can’t figure out why.

Being a staffer working constituent calls in Santorum’s office must have been awesome.

He’s a black dude and this is Jezebel. That’s all they need. These are the same people who gush over racist ass Amy Schumer. So there’s no reason to take a single criticism here seriously. He may very well be an asshole, but let’s not pretend that this is some principled stand against comics that demean others. Jez

I was wondering the extent to which Henderson’s piece was a baiting article, where he could plausibly deny the racial aspect, and I think Monique is spot on in how she breaks it down. But he knows there is a big time racial aspect and he’s deliberately being oblivious to it for the sake of clickbaiting controversy.

The reason a lot of these films won’t be successful is not Black Panther but, rather, what Black Panther represents: something new.

“But my point is more that nobody insists on anyone having a car to pick them up because no one has a car.”

You literally just told me that a thing that happens to me never happens. So the only one denying someone’s actual experiences here is you.

Well, your point is false because women apparently DO still expect men to have a car to be able to drive them around in cities where people tend to rely on public transit. The story I shared was about just that happening. And that was just the most egregious example. What I’m wondering is, how easy is it to avoid

“Bitch!” Carson yelled out. “Don’t you know I have a portrait of me and black wavy-haired Jesus hanging in my house? Did you really think we were going to stick to that $5,000 budget?!” Carson then smacked five with another black man that could’ve been Raffi Williams since he works as a spokesperson for the

There are guys that insist that women have a car to be able to pick them up? Never heard of that. That’s not the traditional expectation. And I assumed that because we’re in a city where even high profile professionals take public transit, I thought women generally would understand. But I think it’s a matter of being

Yep, sounds like my approach. And the paying issue has nothing to do with the money. As you said, it has to do with their attitude and sense of entitlement. If they are this entitled on the first date, expecting you to do everything, they will only get worse in any kind of relationship.

Gender roles are bullshit. They’re arbitrary, their contradictory, and all they do is divide. So again, no.

I’m glad to hear a woman say that relying on public transit is ok. Driving in my city is a mess so I don’t own a car and use public transit like much of this town.

This makes no sense. You’re saying you want to be equal, yet you want the guy to do all the work. I know that’s the traditional mode, but you can’t say you expect to be equal when you expect him to lead and you refuse to do so.

There is no law in Mississippi that holds adults responsible when children gain access to unsecured weapons.

This is pretty much where I’m at. If you believe in equality, and in your partner, you’ll BOTH put in the effort to make things work, however you want to divide things up and however way it works for you.

“but when the check comes, I sit still and allow him to take it. How he handles the check situation will likely play a big role in determining whether or not I will go out with him again.”
