Morrowind is easily the best elder scrolls game. In pretty much every single way. It was also the last time the game felt like an actual RPG with stats/skill checks instead of hack and slash like Oblivion and Skyrim. I still like Oblivion and Skyrim, but Morrowind surpasses them in basically every way.

There is a whole lot of people out there that would wait at level 99/100 for the next event, spam 20 odd levels to get the seasonal lootboxes asap and then grind as per usual for the next while. Personally after my first level 100, I was surprised that the xp went back to low levels for a while.
