I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't "it," and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me…

REASON! WILL! PREVAIL!

Not disagreeing with you there, either - the drone policy as it stands is a horrorshow. I can see the argument for it (if it meant less boots on the ground), but right now, they're basically living out the plot of an alien invasion thriller with us as the baddies.

I go back and forth as to whether or not it was deliberate.

Hey, look! Another two cents!

Would they still need to prove it to themselves? Yeah, I think they might, honestly.

See, my own cynical half-theory is that Carson's gaining traction because a number of conservatives just woke up and realized they've spent a majority of the last eight years frothing at the mouth over Obama (not because they're racist, though!)

Infected uvu - nope! It's Thetans. So who won that argument, DOCTOR????

Well, everyone knows that Qui-Gon Jinn died at the Battle of Naboo. What this movie presupposes is… maybe he didn't?

I thought PT was as dead(ite) as a doornail…?

"Grabbers" is an Irish horror-comedy, and not sequel or prequel to anything, as far as I know…. it's pretty much a hoot, though, and totally worth a watch!

Whoops, good catch!

I recommended it elsewhere in a thread, but if you're the readin' type, check "A Head Full of Ghosts," by Paul Tremblay. Similar narrative structure and themes, and disturbing as hell.

Heh, I was actually going to write "low-budget" instead "first film-y," but felt it'd unfairly knock the film; one of the things I've learned being a horror fan (which, as you said, is kinda masochistic) is to never hate a film for it's budget - you end up missing out on good shit if you do (Late Phases being a great

Yeah, I hated the kid at first, but once the switcheroo happens and you realize she's downright dangerous, you realize the kid is as fucking resourceful as one of the Goonies.

I hear your complaints re: The Canal, as well - every horror film clanks along under the weight of genre/plot-necessary contrivance (the good ones handwave it so well that you don't really notice). Horror fans get picky about it, but mostly we just try to accept the shit with the good stuff.

Yeah, but, dude, the point is that you NEVER get rid of The Babadook/grief over the death of a loved one. The best you can do is lock it up tight and try to cope. And every now and then, when it gets too loud, and you can't ignore it anymore, you go down to the basement and sit with it. You feed it scraps of
