Interesting. Why do you think that is? Let's get to the bottom of this mystery.

Watched the entirety of Stranger Things, which I really enjoyed despite (because of?) it being aimed squarely at me, a D&D-playing nerd who was born in the 70s.

That sounds like me.

I remember using "cheap" for that, but not "cheesy." Oh well, I'll take your word for it.

They also drink prune juice. A warrior's drink!

No, because there was no circa 1974 Han Solo.

Yeah, we got plenty of things wrong when we were in middle school.

He's not that good in this, either, but that's okay.

There are a few other dialogue anachronisms; I caught a "cheesy" or two in there, and I don't remember hearing that until the 90s. "Corny" would have been more appropriate.

Yep, he looks like Jean-Ralphio and it's kind of hilarious that he's apparently supposed to be the good-looking popular guy. My wife and I yelled JEAN-RALPHIO the first few times he popped up.

Yep. I remember that my Bowie-, Joy Division-, Bauhaus- and Siouxsie-loving older brother HATED The Smiths and The Clash.

Apparently a lot of people dislike his commentary for "trying too hard." Well, at least he fucking tries.

Yep, I said "Jean-Ralphio!" immediately, and now my wife and I cannot take him seriously in the least.

I'm not quite 40 but it still hits me right in the nostalgia glands. It's almost TOO calculated.

Yep, there were a couple of girls like that when I went to high school in the early 90s, even. I thought it was perfect.

Really goofy nitpick: if Will's character is the one casting the spell, he shouldn't be rolling anything (at first). The Dungeon Master (Mike) is the one that should be rolling to see if the enemies resisted it.

In the US it has no meaning.

Best show on TV.

Every time I see a pack of Cheerwine (it's not real common here in Florida) this song starts up in my head:
