The Itchy & Scratchy And Moochie Show
Seriously? They bring in actual reformed white supremacists on to try and talk about how to deal with this situation and your response is “LOLOLOLOL WHITE PEOPLE AMIRITE?!?!?!!?”
I also love the notion that hugging a Nazi is some sign of ridiculously effete white privilege. The article even feels compelled to at least acknowledge that Fred Armisen isn’t entirely white, but apparently feels that Carrie Brownstein’s ethnic identity doesn’t even merit a mention. She’s white! Surely the neo-Nazis…
There are so many things that suck about today - emboldened white nationalism being one of many of them- but yeah, some how in the midst of all the horror, I find myself having just enough bandwidth left to get annoyed at all the people online rushing to prove their wokeness before actually reading whatever it is that…
Virtually no one is in physical jeopardy — at the moment — from white supremacists. The current battle is one of ideas, not an actual battle. People understand this, right? The idea of nonviolent resistance is actually a rather good one, and not just morally, but strategically. Can we stop snarking at it now, please?
So ... you didn’t watch the segment or read this article. Got it.
I hate to say this, but I’m pretty much done here. The switchover just ruined too much, and my only continued presence would be out of a sense of obligation. Y’all can find me on the AV Club After Dark.
By far, my favorite thing about the Kinja crossover is how a significant portion of the top comments are from racist trolls and the general discourse of the site has shifted to general assholery. That’s just the best.
Also, Kid Rock continues to flirt with running for Senate, saying that he would give his “fans exclusive insight on his political views and aspirations for Michigan” at a concert in Detroit earlier tonight. He didn’t declare one way of the other if he was running for Senate, but he did go on a rant about transgender…
Qatar update: An Arab League meeting turned into a tense exchange between the Qatar Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Saudi envoy to the Arab League, with Qatar accusing Saudi Arabia of seeking regime change. Saudi envoy Ahmed al-Kattan responded “...we don’t want to change the regime, but you must also know that…
AV Club Alum is a strange euphemism for “guy we fired because we weren’t prepared to pay $350 a month for a decently written, well liked column”
Again: They’re not equal opportunity. 2 episodes that get it right on trans issues do not a “Mrs. Garrison” arc erase.
They really haven’t. Its true that the original trangressive slant of their humor worked better when we were lambasting regressive social norms, but now that norms have become more progressive it has served as fertilizer for conservative/regressive attitudes. Being transgressive is no longer subversive in a good way.…
I think Team America World Police probably counts as some kind of really dumb political statement about something.
welp
For evil to triumph it is only necessary for good men to do nothing.
No, I don’t think so. Parker and Stone want to have it both ways. Biting satire and also complete irreverence. But their nihilistic libertarian views shrine through pretty frequently. They’re whole thing is “we’re too cool to care”. It can be funny, but it can be pretty troubling too.
Almost as bad as environmentalists.
As South Park has taught me White Supremacists are just as bad as everyone else.
Whatever, I was into StartFragment:000093351. Before it became so... commercial.
