Yeah, if you go high enough level they are very similar, but once you start comparing them (and especially if you played these games in the moment they were released), they’re pretty different.

I felt like Iris and Lunafreya’s character’s should’ve been combined in the story. You feel much more connected with Iris than you ever do with Lunafreya, so when Lunafreya dies it’s like, so? If the two characters interactions were combined Lunafreya’s death would’ve had a lot more meaning.

Personally I found the major flaw, and in no way a redeemable one, to be how much significant backstory hiding in freaking comic books, an animated movie, patches and tiny add in “chapters” to flesh it out so it could be called Final Fantasy.

THIS.

So I unfortunately have to disagree with you, but I appreciate any articles about jrpgs.

Every time I hear or read the words “game soundtrack” I immediately think of Persona 5. The music is such an intrinsical part of that game’s experience. Even my mom, who hates game music, hummed to a couple of tunes as I was playing. I put over 100 hours on that game and I sang along the battle theme every single

While playing the game I noticed the days getting shorter and shorter and that there were more and more demons. That really tipped me off to where things were going and info in Niflheim I guess cemented it. But yeah I could’ve missed all that.

This summary must have come a million patches later or you researched a bunch of it on the games wiki, the ending was a confusing mess that half the players (and that’s generous) had to google.

You SHOULD mind that Square Enix locks so much of the context for their games behind additional purchases and time investments. It’s a terrible business practice and artistically indefensible. As much flack as companies like EA get for making you pay for DLC they included on the disk or that they could have easily

I’m gonna have to hard disagree with this one. I’m not going to rewrite my 5 paragraph rant from last year, but to summarize, any fun I was having with the game ended when the game closed off the open world.

I agree with you. I was more emotionally invested in FFX than I ever was with FFXV, and the ending resonated more with me.

Sorry but I have to wholeheartedly disagree. FFXV had the most incomplete story of all the installments and that’s why the ending also fell flat. It was emotional - sure. But especially now that we have the Ardyn DLC this ending is just a slap to the face.

Don’t get me wrong - it’s not because the ending was sad. FFX

I’ll agree with you up to a point:

XV had the most emotionally impactful ending sequence for about the first half of that sequence. Without spoiling anything too much, the brotherhood/camaraderie that’s established between the Big Four during the course of the game definitely felt earned (except for that deus ex

This so much. The story is so badly told in FF15, nothing really invested me. And I am a guy who LOVES playing video games for their stories, even mediocre ones. Even the very end is played in reverse order! So you don’t get any emotional impact from any of it. The very last cutscene should have been played BEFORE

This makes me want to go play the Ardyn DLC. And all the rest of it, too. I wonder how difficult it would be to get back into the gameplay.

This news is obviously sad and I wish well for all the employees who now need to find new work. Also, my condolences to fans of the series.

I think it’s also the devs being unreasonably afraid of dumbasses going down full gay romances looking for bro relationships. But yeah, same sex women couples are generally more accepted speculative fiction, I think you can even see that in action in the DC CW shows though I’m not entirely sure.

Because the game panders to horny straight male players more than anyone else? Because they want their waifu to experience the romance options, but not be tainted by some other (male) characters love and/or dick? Because selling the pretty basic “Bi/lesbian girlfirend fantasy”?

I just wish there were better options for guys. We get 2 who are old enough to me the main character’s father, and you don’t even marry them anyway. And Linhardt is just, unappealing to me. Wish they made Claude or Lorenz gay

*sigh* close, but not quite there. I get the whole “don’t force it” (like, not every character needs to be Bi) but also...there really could be much better options than what exists. If petting was cool in IF, why can’t we get a few more gay options?
