You have to look at these statistics in the context of your own case. Many people who get these surgeries are in advanced age, so even the 10-year survival rate looks bad (around 16% are dead in ten years). But think of it this way...
Thank you for not writing “just 36% effective,” like some news outlets are doing. “Just” denotes that it’s not good enough, or that it’s not worth it. I’ll take a 1% effective vaccine over no vaccine any day of the week, including Fridays.
