It’s like at launch, customers with broken ones are very vocal, but the PS1 (like all Sony products) was absurdly resilient.

IIRC the only actual PSX hardware I own (might be for PS2) is a memory card from when I used to go to a place that let you play an hour on a console for some money. We used to call it Sega though most of the machines were PSX and PS2. There were also some DreamCasts.

I think the general rule of thumb is more “don’t put anything in your war game that’s actually still happening right this second” with more distance required based on the severity of whatever the situation is/was.
