I’ve always been vaguely aware of this since the beginning... I’ve always thought that if it was me, I’d have just taken the dollars and moved on, before a lawsuit happened. If you go up against a multinational corporation, you kinda have to know that it’s going to take a toll on you, even if you “win”.

I doubt it was a real one. Probably a replica. Maybe even a blunt one, enforcing the idea that it cannot cut anything.

Great to know people stood up to him when he thought he was invincible. The way Miyazaki spoke about him just sounds like he seethes with distain for him. 

Thank God. Mononoke is one of the greatest animated films of all time, and my personal favorite Miyazaki film.

You don’t get to cash in on the name recognition without picking up the baggage that comes with it. They could have called this anything else and we would have been none the wiser, but they decided to call it Metal Gear because they knew it would draw more attention. Well, they got it.

Yeah, those first-gen-3D games just aged so badly. I got a few from PSN back on my PS3, but it was hard to play them.

This is a series in need of a reinvention. Something fresh but similar in tone, not just a remake or sequel to the existing story.

I wish they would remake this game. Bad controls and all. It’s funny this is from that in between era of graphics. It doesn’t have the clarity and expressiveness of 2D art, but due to system limitations the 3D art has so few polygons that all the characters look messy (for lack of a better term). I don’t need 4K level…

Advice if you’ve never played this game - there’s an opening cinematic that plays before the start screen...SKIP IT. Do not watch it until after you’ve beaten the game. It spoils a lot of great story beats. Trust me - if you take my advice, when you finally *do* watch it, you’ll be coming back here to thank me.
