Hah. At this point, both the drone and myself would spend a lot of time bouncing off the ground, so it would be a kind of hilarious double act. (Actually, once I get one well-trained drone, I want to Kickstart a fleet of them and do a giant synchronized routine)

For the past few weeks, I’ve been learning to unicycle but also teaching a Parrot AR drone to dance. I don’t have any handy video or photos of the drone (which crashes a lot right now), but here’s some snippets of code from the NodeJS-based interface for controlling it- which uses OSC, which means most music software

I dunno, once the amnesiac Asian guy picked up the katanas, I rolled my eyes and noped out of there.

I just can’t get excited about VR, but I’m old enough to remember the last time everybody was telling us that VR was going to be the next big thing. I even wrote some applications in VRML. I’m skeptical of any technology that is designed around blocking out the world around me to better enjoy a fictional world. Good

Carl Sagan discussed this in A Candle in the Dark- he bemoaned the general quality of television, but held up Scooby Doo as a positive example.

My sense was that it wasn’t random at all- she raided the place where she heard rumors her sister was working.

So, no problem then! /s

I can’t count, but even better!

Hey, Continuum lasted for two whole seasons, and is getting a short third! And he was on Arrow early on too!

At a guess, the Cold War ended faster. That was the main reason Orion never really went anywhere. Neither the US nor the USSR were terribly comfortable with the idea that their opposite number was heaving nukes up into space.

“We’re alone,” something whispered to me.

Nedry’s in the market for someone who swallows. His last date was a spitter. It didn’t end well.

Wait, what. He dies, blows up the entire city, and still keeps talking?

The controversy, at least what I saw of it, took this form:

That’s probably my least favorite thing about this announcement. I have yet to play a game with procedurally generated levels where the levels are actually any good.

The Linux bit was a little laughable- I didn’t get the sense that they were conflating the OS and the DE, but awkwardly trying to do a nod to the DE wars- the only thing people have bigger flamewars over are politics and text editors.

Agreed. And the storyline of Asylum was cleaner and made more sense (despite the odd contrivances, like a secondary Batcave, etc).

Bill, the Galactic Hero. I intend to record myself reading it someday, because (not to toot my horn) I do a damn good job with it.

Drop? I think the writing has been much tighter. The production values have slid a little bit, but the episodes have actually been better despite that.

I don’t entirely disagree- I’m not advocating that we need to make the world a drearier, more depressing place, I’m just raising the point: mass media exists to entertain, but maybe we have too much entertainment.
