This article literally has “Cities” in the title. The introduction of autonomous cars won’t be an on/off switch where suddenly piloted vehicles are illegal everywhere. It will be a transition, and there will be zoning. Cities are the perfect location for autonomous vehicles. There’s nothing to suggest these changes

Dear Ruiners of Worktime Playtime (and io9 staff)

Can I donate to a kickstarter for an independent io9 site?

That’s sort of the way the books are. Short chapters, each told from a different “viewpoint character” that jump back and forth from one story (or one aspect of a story) to another and eventually it all weaves together. There is also a prologue that usually sets up a mystery that always seems a little in media res and

Was she actually racist? I haven’t watched the episode in a few weeks but I can only remember her talking about his lungs, which is less racism and more just a fact she was using to torture the Belter and letting him know that. The books have talked about how Belters can’t visit Earth because of how strong the gravity

Yeah. I didn’t really get an Amos vibe from Amos.... And I was looking for a TexasMartian accent from Alex, but dude’s doing a good job otherwise.

Yeah it is just unrealistic to think that the characters will match their description in the books. All of the main characters are younger than their book counterparts. I do see the actor filling the spirit of Amos though. Time will tell

While Alex seems perfect, Amos is described as a man in his 40-50’s, with a heavyset build, beer gut, and almost completely bald.

I’ll say this: ever since they stated the really, really annoying cross-posting I have moved almost entirely to skimming via RSS. It easily allows me to avoid any of the garbage (like sponsored posts) and filter out the click bait (especially the splod posts). But It still lets me read the really good stuff posted on

Meh, it would be better under the plane.

Guaranteed they wouldn’t allow passengers up there during take off or descent, so that means you would only get to ride up there when above the cloud line.

So all you’d really see much of is blue skies and have no shade from the sun.

Everything about it reeks of a privileged girl sitting in a trendy hipster coffee shop in NYC, staring out the window at a line of cars, thinking “I know what will solve everything! Just ban cars! I don’t need a car, I walk to my vegan yogurt store! Why can’t everyone just live in NYC and not own cars!?”

Alyssa,

I’m all for this. Let’s build a wall around the cities too and ban trucks from entering.

Typical Gizmodo article.

What about people that don’t live in cities? Are we going to invest in effective public transportation for towns of 500 or 1,000 people? What about actual rural areas? Or are we going to force everyone to move to cities and abandon rural areas (ya know, the places where all the food comes from?). This is seriously a

Yep. And depression was part of the initial spark here, because everyone wants something differently in those circumstances (if they’re even lucky enough to know what they want/need). I never know what people close to me need, and I’d love if, when they can, they could tell me.

Absolutely! And it’s on me for not making that clear. I honestly don’t expect people to feed me, but more like, crap, I’m being an ass because I’m hungry, SORRY I JUST NEED TO EAT.

this comment is slightly lacking in Pantera.
