Which CGI shots looked bad? I thought they looked fine for unfinished post production, certainly better than the awful rod puppet from Alien 3.

Lets face it, pretty much all the Alien films have been this.

One of the strengths of the X-Men series was that it was, for the most part, able to avoid the villain of the week formula that had (and still does) bedeviled other comic book adaptations. Here they did that, and in a way that felt totally disconnected from the rest of the movie. It ruined what had been, up to then, a

I admit I don't know much about the comics. But in the context of the film it felt like it was from a completely different movie. It would be like of The Dark Knight ended with Batman fighting Mr Freeze from Batman and Robin. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the producers forced the director to end the movie like

Those are basically my thoughts too. there is definately a 'made by committee' feel to many of the MCU films, especially the most recent Dr Strange. They're fun for what they are, but I don't think any of them are great pieces of cinema.

I think the ideas behind the X-Men films are more interesting. Plus, Bryan Singer has always been a director who wasn't afraid to take chances. But the way in which those ideas were executed hasn't always been the best. First Class is better than most Marvel films imo, but there is also no Marvel cinematic universe

This is the only mention of BvS in the review:

Exactly, The first 2/3 of The Wolverine are pretty great. But it unfortunately turns into total shit at the end. The first 2/3 are, in my view, an example of a fairly grounded comic book movie done right. I just wish it had stayed with the "Logan goes to Japan, gets caught up in the Yakuza" type story, rather than

That's an interesting one. The X-Men films are wildly inconsistent, while the Marvel movies are consistently pretty middle of the road.

"And yet when BvS did this same thing (and with unparalleled visual beauty to boot) it was criticized for being too dark, too dour, and taking itself too seriously."

That and the kanji , which I admit is a nightmare for learners (if you know Hanja it will help somewhat).

頑張ってよ。

Exactly, it's Peter Jackson who is infamously excessive. But this is a bit much even for him. I think he went hog-wild after the success of the Lord of the Rings Films.

Jackson's King Kong isn't bad at all. But it is way too long for what it is, to the point where it feels self-indulgent.

The 2014 American Godzilla wasn't that bad, until for some fucking reason they decided to kill off their most interesting character half way through the movie.

Hopefully it won't take them 2 hours to actually get to the island this time.

If anything, of the DCU, or really any of last year's comic book movies, SS is the least deserving. At least BvS had competant VX and well shot action, unlike SS.

The first is a great Kung Fu movie and period piece, but as a 'biopic', not really. It glosses over a lot. especially politically inconvenient facts to the PRC, to the point of outright dishonesty.

I actually thought the first half of Fantastic 4 was perfectly serviceable. It's in the second half (after the time skip) when it really goes off the rails.

That's a fair point, but I think it's only fair to judge a film based on its own merits rather than expectations surrounding it. And on that basis, The Human Centipede 3 is a worse film in every possible respect.
