Listen, I love y’all and this site, but I’m struggling to connect this article to the Jalopnik “Obessed with the Culture of Cars” ethos. Does it have something to do with filling the void of Jezebel after selling it to Paste Media?

My bias is the most (not all) Kia Souls are driven by white 55+ yr. old frumpy Karens that think 5-10 MPH under the speed limit is the way to go. Godspeed if you are stuck behind one at a stoplight.

Won’t catch any heat from me. Like the new Civic, Honda sucked all the character lines and personality out of the Accord to the point where, especially in white, looks as amorphous as a Dove Beauty Bar.

I worked at a rental car company when these were still being sold and drove literally hundreds of these. The only reason I will always remember it is, and I kid you not, the interior plastics were so cheap and coarse, I once rubbed my arm on a piece of it when getting out and it left a burn mark.

I think lots of people remember the Mercury Villager, most notably for it’s odd cross-branded Nautica Edition, but does anyone remember the other minivan under the Mercury nameplate, the Monterey? Not the full size car that existed in the mid 20th century, this was a barely badge-engineered third generation Ford

Sadly, I’m starting to feel the same way. I can’t point to the exact time when Jalopnik went from a car enthusiast site to a place where people spew vitriolic bile about what they hate rather than celebrate what we love. There are still some useful and informative articles on this site, but it feels like they are more

Yes. Not every innovation needs to be good. Sometimes attempting something different is better (or at least more interesting) than retreading the same ground and being a follower. I think that the biggest mistake made was in the CT’s posturing. Rather than tout it as a high-volume go-anywhere truck replacement,

For whatever reason, the sideview mirrors on Hondas equiped with their LaneWatch camera system have always looked off to me, mainly for two reasons. One, the camera is only on one side, making it asymmetrical. Two, it looks like a dangling earlobe, like someone with those “tunnel earrings” that stretch out your ear.

I learned my lesson to avoid touch sliders several decades ago when I foolishly bought and installed an Alpine head unit that used this feature. Riding the wave of iPod “click wheel” mania, it used a non-optional (and also non-backlit) GlideTouch” to scroll through your music library, which was beyond tedious when

My family also had several Tracers/Escorts, and they were 20% more of just about everything.

I posted the LeMans as well, and it is 100% this. My family owned one, the only redeemable quality being they mercifully spec’d it with the 5-speed manual instead of the miserable 3-speed auto. My mom would occasionally let me row the gears for her from the passenger seat, and it was all the rubbery and undefined

This car was so unremarkable I had to look it up to remind myself if it was called the Nitro or Liberty, it’s (mostly) Jeep equivalent, either of which don’t live up to the namesake anyway.

The 6th and final generation of the Daewoo/Pontiac LeMans most definitely did not live up to its name, unless you count it as a car you could drive to the 24 Hours of LeMans that would eventually arrive if it didn’t break down along the way. With a blistering 74 hp on tap and a pin-you-to-your-seat 0-60 MPH time of

Hopefully it comes with a matching CamelBak.

While it’s a bit antiquated now, I always thought Honda did the faux-HUD right with the split gauges in the ninth-gen Civic, and it was a sign of the across-the-dashboard displays that were to come. All the essentials were right at eye level: speedo, temp, and fuel, with the infotainment just off to your right. I

Further adding to VinFast’s delivery miss, I remember reading a few articles that pointed out a good chunk of their 2023 sales were to their own employees and subsidiaries. Ouch.

Whatever they did to the front end seems to fix that little lip that suck out at the tip of the hood, or at least make it more palatable, though I’m getting some major Corolla SE vibes on that lower grille area.

There are some naysayers out there who believe RWD sports cars can’t be driven in the snow and ice, but my unlimited budget says otherwise. My ideal winter car is a custom Miata with snowmobile-style treads and skis. Snow tires are good, but this is better, and now the Miata is the answer to your winter time daily

Everyone in my family owned a Civic of this generation and they are great little cars. I had the regular coupe, my sis had the Si coupe, and my mom had the regular sedan.

While it was by no means fancy, the 1st gen Dodge Neon had a glow-in-the-dark key, which was kind of neat and original. I owned one, and believe me when I tell you it was the only remarkable thing about it.
