Hey, this was fun! You have to have a job doing this, right?

Since HBO entered its second-tier period post-The Wire, and AMC lost Mad Men and Breaking Bad, at least. And I say that as someone who doesn't even like Atlanta or American Crime Story.

Yeah, Orange, while still as precarious a balancing act as ever, should have appeared in here, at least for episodes like "Friends in Low Places" (in which a swastika is turned into a window) and "Toast Can Never Be Bread Again" (featuring one of TV's most complex takes on rape and rape culture, and that beautiful

Also of note: Jane the Virgin still has its two extremely loyal followers from last year.

Fascinatingly, The Americans appears on more first place ballots than any other show, but is at spot no. 3 on the main list because a lot of folks didn't put in on their ballot.

Catch-Up Ranked:
1. The Wire
2. Deadwood
3. Review
4. Cheers (Seasons 1-4, as of now)
5. The Office [U.K] (haven't watched the Christmas specials yet; it's such a painful show)
6. Chapelle's Show
7. Enlightened
8. Futurama (stopped after the original run)
9. Mr. Show (still have the fourth season)
10. Hannibal (I'm partways

1. The Americans
2. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
3. Black Mirror
4. The Good Place
5. Orange is the New Black
… And I don't really have more especially good shows to list, as I haven't got HBO/an enormous time commitment, although I really need to see You're the Worst, Better Call Saul, and Bojack Horseman. I'm mostly just

Of the ones I've seen, Iron Man 2 is just incredibly boring; Spider-Man 3 is often at least somewhat entertaining in its set pieces, and I'll forever defend Goth Peter's dance scene.

I saw X-Men Originals: Wolfman in theater, and it was rather actively depressing.

Leaving 40% for poor cast morale, I presume?

Okay, Taylor Schilling deserves much better than to be lumped in with those other Taylors. She's at least the best blonde Taylor.

Even weirder, the feathered tail was Johnny Depp's.

This is actually a terrific idea- another 90s-set documentary with a lot of modern-day relevance, but less saturated in the public mindset than the OJ trial. One of the main points of criticism for Made in America, as I recall, was that just about everybody knows about the "Trial of the Century", even if Edelman did a

Granted, the presidency hasn't had anything resembling a boring four years since… H.W., I guess?

Attractive, but I don't think I've ever actually been attracted to her, and at this point she alerts my gag reflex.

Definitely gotta agree fundamentally weak, which is not a good flavor for a president at all. I still find that kind of more pitiful than despicable, however. I've nothing but dislike for Johnson, in spite of the fact that he kept pet mice.

Cleveland was actually a solid president, at least when he wasn't sweeping up somebody else's mess. Probably in good company with other middle-of-the-pack-but-still-good presidents, like Taft and Chester Arthur.

There have been a good few wild incompetents in the White House (James Buchanan, Jimmy Carter), but those folks at least weren't wildly despicable. Heck, Buchanan gets extra points for being in the closet in the 1800s.

We had just gotten to a point at which it felt like it wasn't emboldening for people to say hateful things, at which they were at least obligated to be ashamed. So, yeah, getting back to a place like that's going to take a while, especially with social media.

Saw Arrival; really cool to see a film dealing with Sapir-Whorf. The reaction to the UFOs was eerily similar to Tuesday's election (the dow dropping, widespread protests), but it's an ultimately (somewhat cartoonishly) optimistic film. Kind of needed that.
