Yup. and that's a perfect example of effective volunteerism! I've written code for work, and I've written open source. The difference is that I knew BEFORE I did the work whether or not I was getting paid for it.

It's simple supply and demand. If you copy freely, then supply is unlimited and demand drops to nil thus the content creator can't recover their investment.

I've always practiced this as a method to END the "never ending talkative attendee" as well. They know we're done and what I need from them and they will typically follow through prior to bothering me again. It's got a very high success rate... worked 100% of the time on my ineffective former boss :)
