I lived in Denver when he died and some of my friends knew his friends. It was really heavy. But this is not the way. Motorcycles allowed people without megabucks to take part in an international spectacle. To wit: my buddy finished mid pack on a supermoto’d CR250 smoker. Nearly broke, but he got to race.

You almost have to do some kind of transmission swap. The automatics are semi-fragile and I believe something about them is rare.
