My experience with 3M 8115 panel bonding adhesive has not been very good. It works when the fit is perfect and there’s no structural load on the panel. I’ve never glued in whole rockers or other things that were spot welded in the first place, since it’s just easier and cleaner to use a self-etching, weld through…

3M specifically makes a spray on weld through corrosion inhibitor just for that. You spray it inside of body panels before you weld them on.

For $47mill, I would pay IHHS to crash one OEM welded and one chemically bonded roof and see if there is any determinable difference. I would really really like to see the results.

The manual says weld. No expert said glue was sufficient.

To my knowledge, all of the women who have come forward have been white, so it’s entirely possible that he’s also a racist, and that racism prevented even more women from being sexually assaulted. So at least we have that silver lining.
