ISIS is NOT an American problem. Let Iraq fall. It’s our fault for invading Iraq and totally destabilizing it, but don't expect anyone to admit that. We screwed up, so let's go over there and cause more grief, death, and pain and lots of unintended consequences. Of course, eventually the U.S. will run out of borrowed

Because we are stupid enough to pay for that and they are more than happy to let us. Just like Japan and South Korea. Let the stupid United States pay for our defense while we spend our money on other things.

We caused the new cold war by adding NATO (read, military alliance) members closer and closer to Russia despite the fact that the Warsaw Pact and the USSR ceased to exist, then endorsed a mob overthrow of a properly elected democratic government in Ukraine because it wasn't sufficiently pro-Western. The Russians could

Just like the Saudis bombing Yemen back into the Stone Age without so much a whimper from us. Funny how that works. All depends on who's killing who.

Turkey is a loose cannon and now they have a loose cannon ally, Saudi Arabia. Funny how all the crybabies about Syrian civilians getting killed don't have any crocodile tears for the destruction that the Saudis and their allies have done to the Yemeni civilian infrastructure. It all depends on who's doing the killing

The "free press" just pushes whatever Washington feeds them. ISIS is NOT a threat to the U.S. Neither is the fall of Iraq or Afghanistan. We should leave Europe to defend themselves and the same with South Korea. Try to find those opinions anywhere in the mainstream U.S. press. No one asks why NATO is still around

We have freedom of the press? Is that why they print everything Washington wants them too? There are no truly independent voices in the mainstream media. Ever notice that? Where are the voices against perpetual war? Nowhere to be seen or heard from.

You don't think the "rebels" wouldn't hide among civilian populations? Think, man, think. Not to mention I am sure the civilians have been ordered to evacuate multiple times. You sit in your armchair and say how horrible this is. War is horrible. So-called high tech weapons kill civilians all the time. Drones

Why don't people leave? They should have been gone a long time ago. You don't believe the so-called rebels would hide among the civilian population and so everyone is just supposed to stop fighting? War doesn't work like that, particularly civil wars. The U.S. and its allies in the Middle East have backed the "rebels"

Yes, run to the government for protection. Run, ISIS is about to take over America! Americans are a bunch of cowards. Protect us, Government! These clowns leave the borders wide open for every terrorist to come through and you think these same clowns are going to protect you? Ha Ha!

Did the NFL pay for all this or are we the taxpayer supposed to pick up the tab? I say send the bill to the NFL. They can afford it.

Nothing like war to test out all your military gear to see how it performs in the real world. The Germans did it during the Spanish Civil War. Real world war will show what works well and what doesn't. It often produces advances in military technology as well.

They have solid wages now and all kinds of benefits. This is not the 1960s and 70s. Where have you been?

Patriotic Americans have no desire to die for Aghanis, Iraqis, or anyone else but American citizens. We run around the world looking for trouble. Naturally, the military-industrial complex makes sure we find it.

Nonsense. We are the ones running around getting involved in global warfare. This is NOT the American tradition. Washington advised staying out of other nations wars and his advice is still the best! And his Revolutionary War army was not drafted. Imagine that.

A draft is incompatible with a democratic form of government. Remember that a draft never happened in America until the Civil War had run for years.

Quote below very well stated. Esprit de corps has been largely killed by the politically correct, kinder, gentler military culture that doesn’t seem to mesh with the occupation of killing enemy combatants.

Just like the F-35, this is a ship (or technically two ships, since the Navy was doubling down on stupid) that should never have been built. Just the concept of interchangeable modules makes even an amateur wonder what are the odds that you'll have the module on board that you need when you need it? It seems that DoD

Actually, this is a good chance for Russia to test all their systems to ensure they work as advertised. As for dumb bombs, I wouldn't knock them. You can probably drop 100 dumb bombs for the price of one smart weapon and that's probably a low estimate of the difference in price. Dumb bombs kill very well.

I think we should start looking long and hard who we are selling our weapons to. Germany and some European countries are questioning that and we would do well to do the same. I personally believe we should only sell our weapons to democratic countries with freedoms similar to ours. The military-industrial complex
