Ford knew they'd have to knock it out of the park to sell pickup buyers on a V6.

It's no rumor that they continue R&D on rotaries. It *is* a rumor that they hope to have rotary models for sale in 2017/2020 to celebrate the anniversaries of their first production rotary engine & the founding of the company.
"Why not just post that sources say to expect a new RX? by 2020. And then say "To tide you over here is a cool fan design I found that can hold us over until we get something concrete."
At SEMA one year they had a 2 concept with their 2.0L engine. I agree they should put their current 2.0L engine in new one with its crazy low weight. I think it would sell at least as well as the prior Speed3.
The diesel is intended to be the upgrade engine (instead of a V6), and IMO, that's part of the reason they needed to maintain the performance when adapting it for US emissions. Granted, it doesn't have more power than the gas engine, and it has slower 0-60 times, but all that torque...
The truth hurts, doesn't it?
When I was in college, my roommates saw a long-distance call on the phone bill no one could remember making. Instead of paying the bill and protesting the charge, they didn't pay the bill and protested the charge. Our phone service was cut off. Frankly, I don't fault the phone company at all.
Forests only 'absorb' CO2 when they become larger, i.e., a forest at steady state (the rate of growth matches the rate of decay) causes no net change in CO2.
I agree.
History only matters if people remember it, and the only people who remember that are dead.
What's not to understand about the Infiniti naming scheme? Bigger numbers are more expensive cars, just like BMWs and everyone else.
"I'd like to see them drop the 2.5L in the car. It's the same block as the 2.oL Skyactiv."
Now that's a render I can get behind. And, yes, I saw the wagon/shooting brake, and no, that's not interesting to me in the least.
So, what someone might assume makes a photo wrong?
No way it gets down to 2100 lbs—not in the US, at least. Expect something closer to 2300 lb.
Mazda has said quite a bit about what the new design will look like:
- Be more masculine
V8 Roadsters is building swap kits for the RX-8. I'm very interested in their kit for the LFX V6 from the Camaro. 320 hp & 280 lb-ft is exactly what the RX-8 needs, and the V6 will be short enough to not have to redo as much under the hood & maintain the low polar moment of inertia.
Having talked with Mazda (corporate) employees, there *is* a Sky-R engine. They continue to do research, so there's always a chance. However, since Mazda is the only company actively working on it, the Wankel will likely always be a step behind conventional engines.
This is Jalopnik, that's what they do.
Car makers are desperate for the CD to die. They want to reclaim the space taken up by the CD player for some other gadget that they can charge a premium for.
