I've always thought they were kinda their own thing- the giant monster movie. It has its own specific set of tropes. There are some movies that dip their toes in the genre (Pacific Rim, although it also owed a lot to mecha anime, Jurassic Park) but it's really a unique beast in itself (just like Godzilla)

I love chilies and chili sauces, but Sriracha really doesn't do it for me. Maybe the bottle I have is just a bad brand, but I much prefer Tabasco or other chili sauces. Just, didn't taste that interesting.
