I make my moving boxes 25% books, 75% clothes/bedding/towels/pillows/fabric/yarn (now there’s my hobby hoard collection) and it works out just fine.

I thought I’d hate reading on a screen, cause I had the exact same reaction as you with iPads and stuff, but Kindles are amazing; it feels a lot more like reading from a book, and being able to read outside in the sun without a glare is amazing. I highly recommend!
Can I poke your brain a bit about this? I went into more detail above, but I’m trying to follow this same plan (lift heavy, eat more protein, eat less than I burn.) I am for sure building muscle because my reps/weight are going up, but my measurements haven’t really changed (1-2 inches in my hips over the past year)…
“If someone is reading this and feeling discouraged...”
That would be me, as I’ve been tracking my food for months and seen not a single change. (My weight has actually increased; my waist measurement is about the same, my hip changed by about 1in.) I average 1500 total calories a day, with roughly 1350 net. I walk…
“If the Tea Party can take over the GOP then the Social Democrats can do the same.”
I argue with Blue Lives Matter folks that accountability is a pro-police stance. Head locks and chokes have been eliminated by many police departments not only for their unsafe nature, but because its impractical to use as an officer. The cop who choked Eric Garner was not only a murderer, but a bad police officer,…
Well freedom of the press was a liberal aim, not necessarily a radical left one. And yes, the liberals addressed the political question, not the social one, like the radicals were doing.... But while the populace didn’t want to starve, they didn’t strictly want “equality in practice” either; counter-revolution…
“Certainly the majority of candidates who stay in their seats for a long time are backed by corporate cash.”
I agree that financial reform should be, like, #2 priority for any 2020 candidate. (#1 environment for me.) You’re right that most candidates stay because of corporate cash, but without financial reform, it’s so…
“In other words, AOC backing progressive primary challengers is supporting the best way to save our country.”
Yeah we on the left seem to really suck at political strategy. What is it about the liberal/left that we constantly shoot ourselves in the foot by either not paying attention (ie, part of the reason Obama failed at not passing the policies he wanted) or making immediate demands? It’s funny, because so much of our…
“they would essentially make the left the enemies of some pretty powerful moneyed interests”
True, but here’s the thing, America isn’t yet that far gone that voters couldn’t overcome this. (We’re not, say, Russia yet.) If we consistently voted and consistently agitated, moneyed interests wouldn’t matter as much (they’d…
Yeah, I admit I’m super disappointed to not see hardly anything on my rep (Ilhan Omar!!) who also has some fantastic progressive ideas and an amazing history. I really like AOC, but she’s taking up a lot of air in the room, which may be where some of these criticisms are coming from.
THANK YOU. This exactly. It’s actually a little distressing that we are so obsessed with putting AOC up on a pedestal, from which she will of course fall when she inevitably doesn’t live up to Perfecting Everything Immediately. This is some pretty mild criticism from colleagues she needs on her side, and we’re already…
I have a long posting history that’s consistent with my stances. Calling anyone who you disagree with “tomato” is disingenuous; actually engage with what I’m saying.
And yes, they are elected officials, who were elected based on certain promises and stances. Should they abandon the people they represent, who might or…
“unless Democrats slowly only elect true progessives”
I was listening to the last episode of the 1848 revolutions on Mike Duncan’s “Revolutions.” The 1848 revolutions failed for a whole bunch of reasons, but a big contributor was the splintering of the liberals with the radical left, which paved the way for…
I really like AOC’s policies, but the response of her colleagues seems pretty human; haven’t most of us been annoyed at a new coworker who shows up with grand ideas (that are potentially great and wonderful!) and starts pushing for them without even getting a sense of how those ideas might have failed in the past, or…
This attitude continues to confuse me. In my very humble opinion, I only got more attractive as I got older. Thanks to no longer living like a poor college student, I could afford medication for my horrible acne, a wardrobe I could update with better clothes, better haircuts and product, make-up, and a gym membership.…
If you’ve lived here in Minnesota, surely you’ve met the dozens (there are DOZENS) of bros who wear shorts in sub zero weather. A T-shirt but with gloves in winter is child’s play here.
Your predictions were indeed born out, and I happily submit to the“I told ya so” dance.
It’s tough to give advice, partially because I already know and admire you; you’re already mature, funny, whip-smart and have your “stuff” together. It seems like a cop-out to say it really is them, not you, because of all the…
Yep, was already seeing hit pieces on Harris a few months ago when she hasn’t even announced.
