I really don’t get the intense focus on Harvey Weinstein by anyone outside of Republicans (and they’re only focusing on him to try to divert from their own embrace of sexual predators within their party.) Weinstein didn’t seem to have much to any political clout when it came to steering policy within the Party, and

I’d kinda sorta heard about it, but it was lots of blind items, speculation and the usual “trading favors” stuff. The one that really stuck out in my mind was a Lainey Gossip piece on Blake Lively during 2009 (whoops, wrote wrong year originally); again, a good decade of “everybody knew”, yet these gossip columnists

They did; I just did not understand why the DNC conversation happened *first.* Just like I don’t understand why so many of the conversations happening on Twitter or even here right after the story broke focused so specifically on Clinton, as opposed to... I dunno, anyone else who is actually responsible for enabling

How bout they wait until they’ve actually addressed how many people much closer to the actual abuser covered up his abuse before rushing to blame female politicians? Oh, right, I forgot, men’s behavior are always somehow a woman’s fault.

I think enough people aren’t willing to acknowledge their own lack of self-awareness, that pretty much all of us know a guy who has a creepy reputation but we don’t think it is an ACTUAL rapist/predator. I know at least 5 such dudes, and when I’ve tried to refuse working with them or avoided them, people think I’m

I think she’s calling them out for trying to use the scandal for political points, which is exactly what she tried to do. (Hasn’t exactly been a secret how anti-Democratic she is.) She didn’t call out Weinstein as a sexual predator, or any of the actual Hollywood persons who enabled his abuse, but instead choose to

Yeah I did. And while it talked about how he donated a lot in the 90's, he wasn’t one of the biggest donors for Clinton. And the only reference to him trying to control policy was this:

Nope, just sacrificial goat. An interview with journalist Jodi Kantor in Slate points out that victims only seemed willing to come forward because he seemed less powerful now; and even then, many of them were scared and concerned.

And yet Paltrow, one of his victims, defended him and said he hadn’t never actually exploited her. (And for the record, I think she did this because he was incredibly powerful and she was coerced/scared into doing so, like many assault victims.)

“ETA: also you seem to be advocating that this site ignore sexual misconduct against women for the sake of political expediency, something a real feminist would not do.”

Like she was trying to score cheap political points by trying to tie a scandal to Clinton and the DNC?

It’s pretty hypocritical to complain about Republicans when she did the *exact same thing.* And it’s not meant to be a “gotcha”, it’s meant to be a “what is she even DOING”, where does she get the gall to first complain about the DNC connections with Weinstein (without any updates to how Clinton, the DNC and Obama

Why would they?? Obama actually had his daughter intern there; if he genuinely believed Weinstein was a predator, wouldn’t he keep her far, far enough, if nothing else to avoid this exact kind of scandal should the rumors even prove true? Washington and Hollywood are light years away from each other, and there were

“Across conservative media and social networks, Weinstein is also being used as an avatar of the legitimate ongoing failures of the Democratic party...”

No it isn’t all I care about, and I can see how problems with Democrats. What pisses me off is the disinclination I see among people criticizing Democrats to actually get into politics and get their hands dirty, so to speak. Where are these progressive candidates that DO fit people’s criteria? Every time I’ve seen

Okay I’m gonna hijack this thread to question fellow romance novel readers. I’ve been working on a website/app where the idea is... well, Choose Your Own Romance, kind of like Choose Your Own Adventure books. You can choose the hero and heroine’s physical characteristics and personality archetype, and (if I’m really

Please ignore previous comment, no idea how I got on this article...

I suffered through some of the chapters of the Grey book (there is a LOT of copy/paste, holy cow) and while there’s very little original content, what is there almost makes me wonder if this whole thing is an elaborate performance piece demonstrating how ingrained rape culture is within our society. He is somehow even

O_O

Wait, HE was the one that leaked it?! I always kind of enjoyed the guy, but now he has my mad respect.
