Oh hell yes I did. I saw it in a theater in KC with probably that many people and came away thinking “that was absolutely worth it.” That’s my 3D movie measuring stick. Not too reliant, but it absolutely enhanced the movie in a way that improved the overall experience.
Hey, don’t get me wrong, both are great. I prefer Dredd too, just because I’m a big Judge Dredd fan, but the movie definitely has some broad similarities that border on remakeish.
For an American version of The Raid: Redemption, it’s hella good. I saw that opening night at midnight, as I’m one of roughly 500 Dredd fans stateside.
Even Wagner has said the look of the movie was essentially dead on. It was the story and characterization of Dredd that totally stunk the joint up. If you read the older Dredd progs, they really did crush the look. Nothing else was right, though.
