I agree that liberal does not equal left, and it's not supposed to. Liberal is our form of democracy. Organizations like the ACLU, whose members are largely left, nevertheless work for their central mission even if it requires supporting the rights of expression of those who are illiberal.

The original The Crow was a decent little genre movie. It was not responsible for its sequels or its imitators stinking-up of whole idea of 90s movies.

I gather the critics think The Blind Assassin is her best novel. My favorite is Alias Grace. Handmaid's Tale is the best of her 80's overtly political novels, and sadly still is news. I love her prose.
