Alright, I guess it’s really a site wide directive not to like football anymore. I’ll stop coming. Thanks.

I know — it’s my fault for coming back. But you have four posts on the NFL today: how to ignore it, a stadium taxes thing, a celebration penalty, and a concussion. Just stop covering the sport if you hate it.
Christ you’re dumb
Random quibble, but the Spurs didn’t exactly get blown out by the Thunder in the playoffs. Spurs had positive point differential, should’ve won game 2, and could’ve easily won game 5 if Parker didn’t miss a billion jumpers and a free throw down the stretch.
To me the question is one of expected outcome, and try as a GM might you come out the Nets, Kings, etc. more often than the Celts, let alone the Spurs.
Opportunity cost implies opportunity. The Sixers gave up on years of a .350-.400 winning percentage. Who cares? I’d say there’s, what, a 15 to 20% chance Simmons and Embiid both turn out to be very good, right? Maybe that’s too high, especially given injuries, but thats a reason to be excited as a fan.

Not a “stats hater” but absolutely a stats skeptic: I for one think that blocks, steals and casual eye test are almost certainly more useful than “defensive win shares.”
Sorry friend, in the universe of basketball hipsters Draymond Green is untouchable. I have friends who insist he’s better than Curry. I think he’s eminently replaceable but oh well.
Goodell wouldn’t have to say anything, the FBI would arrest him immediately
I agree with this wholeheartedly. This isn’t a hot take, either — it’s the stance of this site when it doesn’t like the outcome of the investigations.
You’re right, she should instead seek solace in nihilism and the notion that strength is life’s only virtue, as thieves just showed her.
Bostonian here — Boston people don’t like this guy anymore, right? I don’t know the zeitgeist around here, I don’t listen to Felger or read Barstool or anything. I just know my republican Sox fan dad can’t even stand this guy anymore.
Yeah, there’s zero chance this is how he “naturally” falls — he’s a professional athlete, not Inspector Clouseau. And even if it were, that’s perfectly fine, but he shouldn’t be allowed on a basketball court. Steven Adams can’t just train himself to start throwing punches every time he commits a foul.

I mean, I know you’re a Pats fan, I am too. But that he never says anything doesn’t seem like a creation of an anti-Pats press — Belichick clearly disdains most of the media and hates press conferences. To me, that’s part of his charm.
Flair is clearly the NWA/WCW GOAT, but in defense of Cole, he’s playing a character in an alternate kayfabe universe inhabited by marks doing wrestling sabermetrics, and in that universe Goldberg may be the best ever due to his best-ever peak performance level during the undefeated streak. Obviously we can have the…
Eastwood was in Korea? His Wikipedia just says he was a lifeguard at a base.
Can anyone clarify this play for me? My interpretation is not that Russell is confused, it’s that he tries to turn 2 at first and sees its too late, so he just stops, because Gonzalez should’ve been at third by then. It seems like Gonzalez is just a confused dope on this play and is hesitantly jogging to third because…
