I have loved your work on the Good Wife (Red Team Blue Team is probably my favourite- touched on so many things I'd been feeling and thinking), and (lol) The Following. I especially appreciated your gendered analysis. You'll be missed. x

IDK, I'm not too thrilled about this Fincher reboot. Gillian Flynn is the writer. Seriously.

Some communities/people*, if entire countries thought that; they'd have some serious trouble explaining themselves and their laws at the HRC.

Can we just rage a little bit at them cancelling Utopia? The wankers.

He's sweet.

I thought the (first) scene with Thack and Lucy in bed, when they're talking about God, was beautifully lit. The focus on Thack as the morning light filters in- Clive Owen's face was just strikingly beautiful in that shot.

Only vaguely related, but what I really like about Utopia is how plausible it all is as well- especially the exaggerated population control positioning/theories. A lot of Wilson Wilson's zeal, for example, is something you see with some of the more, er, zealous environmentalists (I've been at conferences where people

I thought it was the other {British} TV show called Utopia and came over to protest the hideous grade.

How are you liking The Soul of a New Machine? 'Mountains Beyond Mountains' was excellent, but I've shied away from reading more of Kidder's work (no particular reason.. just haven't?)..

In time for the Wimbledon final, I devoured Johnette Howard's 'The Rivals: Chris Evert vs. Martina Navratilova' which was a really great read about two amazing athletes and tennis players, but also a look at women's tennis; its histories, struggles, and triumphs. If you like sports at all, I highly recommend it.

Thanks! I knew it had to do with something I'd forgotten- that is {with my abysmal knowledge of science} a potentially good thing for Cos, I guess?

I was disappointed about the Castor twist but think it makes sense- especially as a military project. My first couple of thoughts about military involvement in this was around women as producing soldiers but obviously that doesn't work with them deliberately being made infertile. This male clones as soldiers thing

The Following has a nomination?
Classic Poe.

I think reproductive technologies- including the idea of an artificial womb- have the potential to benefit many people and can shift the current perception of family beyond a heteronormative understanding (as surrogacy studies have also shown). But, I'm also concerned about the implications of this technology- not

Nail-gun Ken.

I also loved the kind of background/throwaway line where Felix is trying to scrub his hands clean or something and he goes 'I am soo done with glitter'.

That bit where Leekie just talks about his ~hobby and creating a manmade womb made my ovaries clench up at just how cavalier he was about it and women's bodies were just.. projects. I mean, we already knew he was all about reducing women's lives to their reproductive ability with barely any thought to their agency
