You know, McDonald’s food isn’t really as unhealthy as it’s made out to be. Yeah, it’s not good for you, but most other fast food is a LOT worse for you. People hold up a Big Mac as a prime example of unhealthy fast food, but a Big Mac only has 550 calories. There are other fast food chains that have burgers with 3x

“America has to stop looking for heroes in its Bill Gates figures and start assuming they’re all Jeffery Epsteins.”

I had an 11 day period after my shot. It’s usually like 5 at most. I was...not a fan.

I don’t understand how anyone can defend Lovato in this situation. Aside from the point others have made that it’s on you to manage your triggers instead of expecting the entire world to cater to your specific issues, the fact that frozen yogurt was originally devised from diet culture is a moot point. Birth control

Yeah, but they don’t require testosterone treatments for women who produce just a bit more than average. We are talking about people who produce three times as much (Caster Semenya for example) as average women. If anyone other female athlete was caught with those levels of testosterone in their blood, they would be

Nope. Jezebel keeps barking up this tree with the wrong take. Two credos to live by:

But I wasn’t referring to the sixth place finisher, I was talking about the girls who finished third or fourth here and who could claim to be state champions if these transathletes weren’t competing in a state with a bafflingly lax approach to the competetiveness issue. They didn’t complain here and I don’t know how

It’s true, there are a lot of segments you could divide people along.

What causes me pause with that latter paragraph, and this where I legitimately don’t know what is the right answer, is that if we admit that at least on a high school lever, those track results could very much impact the scholarships and opportunities those women could have. At which point if we acknowledge that there

The Phelps example always cracks me up because there’s a plethora of adjacent data to show why it’s a poor comparison for the divide between men and women.

Yes but the range of performance for men and women is very different. For starters, you can just compare top level athletes. If several men from each olympic event claimed to be trans, then many “womens” podiums wouldn’t even have biological women.

To add on that, it wasn’t just her, but another trans athlete then took that other top spot while competing. While the article does mock a lot the fact that the girl who made the complaint came in sixth in the race, it does ignore the girls who came in 3rd and 4th. It is true that those girls did not complain, at

I didn’t see it mentioned in the article, but it wasn’t really that she finished 6th, it was more that she missed her regional qualifying by two places. From that context, her argument at least makes a little more sense.

I’ll grant you that I’m not transphobic, but I can get petty and shallow with the best of them.

This tends to be my opinion as well. I think that the concept of fairness in a restricted-class sports competition (in this case, women’s sports) relies on a fundamental adherence to the spirit of that restriction.

In a more sane world, everyone would just use the NCAA’s testosterone policy, and then be open to monitoring outcomes over the course of years or even decades as we continue to accrue more observations of trans athletes. This is a topic where I don’t really care about people’s opinions right now. I think the

But that’s not what  most people talk about when we talk about people who are late all the time.

I’m sorry for what you are going through but you are talking about children. I was not. I’m talking about fully formed adults with minor issues like Drew Barrymore ..and myself.

You’re talking about an extreme case. You’re talking about children. You’re talking as a parent. I’m sorry for what you’ve been through but I was talking in general terms about lateness and your average run of the mill ocd. I’ve had it all my life. Hope your night gets better.

When you KNOW what your issues are and why you’re running late yet you don’t take major steps to adjust for your own shortcomings and you continue to run late you are in fact saying that you’re time is more important.
