I think Alonso would’ve taken the title last year had he still been with Ferrari. But he made the best decision he could’ve with the available information. Ferrari wasn’t looking like they’d be a winning team after the 2014 season and 2016 was hardly any better. He switched teams because he wanted to win titles. So

McLaren got lucky in the first race in terms of where they finished, but they finished. Gasly suffered a spectacular engine failure. Not only that, but both McLaren’s qualified ahead of BOTH STR after McLaren had basically no testing mileage comparatively. Again, calling STR faster than McLaren in qualifying and race

In two races, Gasly’s engine has failed once and Alonso has finished in the points twice to be fourth in the constructor’s. Let’s not hail the Honda turn around just yet. They’ve certainly built a better engine, but I think saying that it’s better than the Renault engine already is premature.

Yea and the race was fanastic. Honestly, if you ever wanted to see a race that has the maximum number of drivers putting their exceptional skill on display, this was it. Any of the top 7 or 8 finishers could have been DotD.

Agreed 100%. Anyone who thinks that any works team (referring to the $400+ million a year teams) is going to except complete autonomy from the engine manufacturer is kidding themselves. RBR is going to expect concessions just like McLaren did. Look at how RBR treats Renault when the chips are down. Not well. Lest we

I think calling an RBR title challenge in 2019 with Honda engines is entirely premature. As someone else said, one car performed well this season one race after that same car blew an engine. That’s a 50% record so far.

Two races still doesn’t suggest that the Honda engine is consistently better than the Renault engine. Yes, the Renault is still unreliable, but both STR are on their second of three engines. They even managed good results here and there in the past three seasons. McLaren made the right decision for the information

Is Wheeler Dealers so bad now that Ant Anstead is involved? I saw a couple of episodes the other day and it still seems pretty subdued and focused on the cars.

I maintain that Formula 1 would survive if Ferrari walked.

Honestly I don’t feel half as bad for McLaren as I do for Fernando. Guy would have won the championship in last year’s Ferrari, no doubt, and I will not be convinced otherwise. I know talking about could have beens is a waste of time but it’s hard not to imagine. Hopefully McLaren can pick up podiums this season.

I like your thinking

If Renault got their engine sorted, and I know that’s a big if, there’s no reason to believe that at least Red Bull won’t be in contention for the title. I can only assume that they didn’t make the same mistake twice by letting Newey take a hands off approach to the car’s design and Red Bull has two drivers who are

Imagine the potential embarrassmentof losing to privateers as a factory team...

I thought murdered out meant everything that could be black is. This car is very blue.

This would be insane but why not deliver on the promise of the afforable car first? Let’s iron out the kinks in that cars production first.

Meanwhile, NJ Transit says they think they’ve gotten on top of the recent signal problems and trains should only be 10-15 mins behind schedule.

I’ll give you the trains and the attitudes and most of the people, but the pizza fucking kicks ass.

I gotta agree. I only got excited for interviews if they were having a formula 1 driver on.

I agree with getting bringing back ground effects and multiple engines and getting rid of DRS BUT not making cars smaller and narrower. I want the car to look like a race car and I feel like cars have never really been able to take the first corner of Monaco three wide... At least not to my knowledge. Could they in

I actually like the idea of a budget cap with basically no regs. Most ingenuity wins.
