True. I guess. But the president has 3 jobs:
1) Int’l diplomacy (he’s largely silent on and shows little real interest in)
2) Appts to SCOTUS (besides “overturning Citizen’s United”, we don’t know how he wants to shape the bench...of course, we don’t know that for Hillary either. That I blame on media)
3) Leveraging…
The reason we negotiated the deal with Iran that we did was due to the groundwork put in place by Hillary as SoS. So, if she is so pro-war, why did she lay that groundwork? http://correctrecord.org/the-path-to-a-…
YES!
When Albright made her comments and Steinem...I didn’t like them, but you have to look at them in the context of those two as individuals and Hillary as a person. She is eminently qualified. And, shockingly, some of us progressives think that more progress can be made by her approach to politics than by shock and…
I’m not pissed at his campaign. I am disappointed he started a campaign with a team that had one token woman in a small role (http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/…) . He has improved, but I think he fundamentally misses the import of issues because he simply doesn’t see them. And Killer Mike was at an official…
Kinja is being wonky with replies. For the poster who says I “lied” about Bernie’s writing about women fantasizing about being raped, I’m happy to post what he wrote so people can draw their own conclusions.
My assumption as well. And taking away that power to decide if this is what is best for them is pretty paternalistic. If they feel that Hillary is their best bet for their immigration status, why shouldn’t they make these decisions?
edited as it wasn’t a reply where it was posted
Yes. BOTH sides spew garbage. I don’t believe most people are sifting through what they here.
How many people who praise Bernie for his consistency know that he:
1) Wrote that all women fantasize about rape;
2) Wrote that more orgasms in women might prevent cancer;
It didn’t take months to destroy Hillary’s credibility. The republican establishment (which she is allegedly(?) a part of????) has been working to destroy her for DECADES.
Do we know if the child’s parents reached out to Hillary’s campaign and suggested something relating to it for the ad? Right now you’re just speculating that this was done without understanding by those involved. There’s no evidence of that.
Sexism impacts all women, regardless of who wins this election. That women get tired of it because they have the privilege of being tired of it is disappointing. To say the least.
Sanders is consistent?
He was against gay marriage before he was for it
He was against the Crime Bill of 1994, but invoked the imagery of super predators before voting for it and allows his campaign people to talk about Hillary’s invocation (ONCE) of the super predator myth AFTER the bill that he voted for passed
He…
You left out that he wrote that all women fantasize about being raped and that female orgasms might prevent cancer...
And he didn’t understand the question, when asked, about Hillary’s hair. He didn’t *get* that as a thing that women face (appearance discrimination in the work place).
It is helpful not to talk in code words. If by “establishment” you mean “understands the job she wants to do”, then sure. She is “establishment”. If by “establishment” you mean she sees things the same as everyone else in government, I’d disagree. She has a different vantage. If by “establishment”, you mean that you…
One of the issues with child porn, I think, is we know next to nothing about people who have the desire, but don’t act on it. We see the desire as just as bad as the act. Yet we don’t treat rape fantasies as being just as bad as rape. Thoughts/fantasies are different than actions. I don’t know how much porn normalizes…
I actually really like the way you phrased all this and I think I agree with all of it. FWIW. (And I accept my history as part of who I am. I’ve done a lot of work to put it in its proper place in my life. I’m also very interested in efforts to reduce the number of women who have to deal with processing all of…
Well, when I sit in a meeting at work, and am the only woman, and that’s how it goes day in and day out, and I have to remind people that women can be in my profession, and that just because I speak in a meeting, it doesn’t mean I am interrupting, and when my ideas are treated as if a man thought of them...I mean, I’m…
While I admit that the messaging has left some holes in logic, I also think the media has perpetuated those holes.
To say that “I have noticed things that others don’t because I am not a white man, and those things impact how I see the world, and evaluate justice, and I have had to deal with men grabbing my ass in…
Agree.
