It actually is kinda dismissive because one of the greatest threats to police officers is domestic violence calls. I can’t find the stats right now but I’ve read that DV calls are the most dangerous for them to respond to.

But the term “domestic violence” also encompasses violence against children and parents of the offender. “Intimate partner" wouldn’t.
