I’ve softened on these films over the years. Sure, all the same problems remain, but the larger context around them has made these movies more interesting.

Are these details? The statement still has no specifics despite what the article title says. Really its a variation of what he has said before. If anything it reads as if it was filtered through a PR person who wrote a better copy of Fisher’s previous statements on this.

And Masters of the Universe!

I don’t get it. If you remake The Others, and follow the story that the original told, then you’re wasting your time. The Others was great and creepy and atmospheric and everything led to that ending without you (except for Goosebumps Guy up there) knowing where it was leading. So you can’t beat it. It’ll be like that

But that’s the jump off point. You have expectations and they subvert them. I mean... this is fiction 101.

and when I was an avid watcher of the Simpsons, I wasn’t savvy enough to consider who did the voice or why it was problematic”

This makes no sense. It’s a woman who transitioned into a man. Who else is going to play the former role if not an actor who’s biologically female?

She has explained herself poorly, and made some unusual comments, but the idea that she’s some trans-hating monster would be hilarious if it wasn’t so stupid.

I’m just gonna pop back in three days late to say this is one of the most bullshit comments I’ve ever seen in my life. This is what would happen if CERN engineered the perfect bad hot take.

“little thought has been given to the Apu character beyond the accent, that Apu is his ethnicity (and a blatantly distorted one at that) and that’s it.”

Nah man let’s beat the drum for fucking absolute moral purity—such an easy stance for a generation that’s read precisely 0.8 full-length non-graphic-novel books per capita. Who the fuck cares if we get an Actual Fucking Clown in charge of nukes, at least we’ll make Bryan Cranston fucking feel bad!

In the clip above, Stewart is asked about how he reacted to the revelations and C.K.’s admittance of guilt, and says he was “stunned.”

So by “skirted” you mean “directly mentioned.”

I thought giving Shelob a form and a voice really recontextualized the character.

Or, and just hear me out here, it is possible to be “too smart for your own good.” That being aware of things makes everything more awkward and harder. See, for instance, Idiocracy. And it is very possible for the writers to acknowledge this fact, and that it is central to Rick’s nature, without being

God, I adore the Scott version of Christmas Carol. He doesn't play it up but does Scrooge straight as a real man, even some laugher (gruff as it is) and such, makes him more approachable. I loved the bit where he sees himself as a young boy alone at school, pointing to books "he's not alone, he has Long John Silver
