Some of the best reporting ever done on this website. Kudos.
Depends on whether you enjoy the restoration process or the driving more? Most of these rides that are advertised as “rolling restoration” candidates really aren’t because the mechanicals are much more straightforward than the body work.
Fun fact: tastes like a creamsicle!
I came to say that there isn’t anything worth saving, but I was wrong. I want that air conditioning mouse wheel unit in the dash. It’s not complicated but I’d love to have a backup just to play with and get working again. When I was building my E9 the only spare one I could find was in Portugal.
As a child of the 70s it is literally impossible for me to hear or read “short shorts” and not think of Nair.
So is the idea that if you plan you’re not a badass? Not sure I agree there.
CP. Fix the airbag and get it registered in CA and I will pay $25k tomorrow. That last part if the real trick however.
I just purchased a car (with the amazing help of Jalopnik’s resident expert - can’t remember his name can you help me out here?) and even though I was paying cash the dealership - a luxury place in Marin - wanted to run my credit. I couldn’t figure out why, but I do know that the score they showed me was about 30-40…
I was talking to a friend this weekend about exactly this. Spending the cost of the border wall on jobs training and infrastructure programs in central and south america would certainly increase the demand for US exports (maybe even enough to pay for itself), as well as have a salutatory effect on crime in Mexico.…
Is this the real one or a replica? A guy that goes to my detail shop in SF has a replica as well, maybe there will be more than one KITT there (or is that one KITT and one KARR?).
Blatvia. From the sound of the exhaust.
What I came here to say. Nice.
I test drove one Sunday. It was really nice looking with a good interior. But the tech is behind at least one if not more generations for a car at this price point, and I really expected a nice exhaust like on the F-Type with the same motor. Unfortunately it just wasn’t aurally exciting.
First Gear: I drove the CT6 with super cruise this weekend. It was an incredible system, light years ahead of anything by BMW, Mercedes, or Audi, and even better than the system in the Volvo. (Drove them all.) Really impressive.
It hums down the road.
I mean if he upgraded the cars to those spoked wheels from the skateboard or bike potholes wouldn’t even be an issue at all..
More licensing and testing in general would be a good idea for all drivers. But given how screwed up most state DMVs are, it would be nice to be able to have private testing companies as well. Sort of like motorcycle safety school.
I just drove in Italy. People drive just fine, it’s that the rules are different. Once you drive by their rules (main rule: don’t hesitate), you’re fine. Same with NYC.
