Part 2 has some comic relief and nods to the 1984 version that are fun. This is a dramatic science fiction epic though so not a barrel of laughs.

Do not fear. The visual effects in Dune Part 2 are nothing like the shit Marvel turns out. The visual effects are stunning and are very effective in helping to tell the story.
It sounds like something Jim Morrison sang about that has no direct reference to anything but just sounds really cool.
Honestly, I think that’s the genius of Punch-Drunk Love. As good as Sandler is in it, the real accomplishment is that Paul Thomas Anderson basically decided to make a Happy Madison movie, and the results are weird and wonderful. All the things Sandler would usually do for laughs, he still does them, but he takes them j…
While I do agree with some people that this seems like a non-story, looking at the local theatres here in a relatively small city in a flyover state, there are showings starting at 10:05 for Dune. That means that (hopefully, possibly) movies are back.
Adam Sandler is Nic Cage without the tax problems. His movie quality seems to wildly swing from one film to the next, but he has more choice.
Real headline
“Because he has been a movie star for almost 30 years and always gets very talented actors to show up for his movies.”
I have a theory that ever Adam Sandler project starts without knowing if its going to be a wacky comedy or a serious drama.
It still holds weight too. Barry was one of those guys you both sympathized with and feared for because of his anxiety caused outbursts. The poor guy was going through hell with those sisters.....Christ, I don’t blame him for being as he was. And then he finally got a ray of hope and you really REALLY want him to…
It doesn’t really help that all this happens in between the movies we’re supposed to take seriously as well.
It’s a marketing puff-piece. You can spot these pretty easily because they all end in the same “*Insert media* will appear on *insert platform* on *insert date*.
AVClub consists primarily of these.
when we say we miss ‘the old av club’ we don’t mean write an article as if it’s 2008. anyone who’s taking him seriously has for almost 20 years now and anyone who isn’t made that decision not to 20 years ago.
I respect Sandler and also find him vexing.
I got a little choked up when he was giving the father speech in the courtroom scene in Big Daddy.
Is this what we do now? We just name names about who “should” be in trouble based on an actor’s throwaway comments? How completely pathetic is this. How can the AV Club claim to have any journalistic integrity, or offer any support to credible movements, when garbage like this is pasted?
I don’t understand how people are taking “#1 on the call sheet” to its pedantic extreme here. In telling a story, that can easily mean “someone above me on the call sheet” rather than a Streep vs. Grant parsing.
I have to agree—I was mesmerized by this film (and the previous one) as the visuals of both real and effects are just stunning throughout. I don’t agree with the author’s comment about anything appearing as “obviously computer generated”, save for the fact that lots of stuff in this movie doesn’t actually exist and…
Riding sand is really difficult to do because it's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
