The person who made the video is not the same person who compared it to Claire’s character. She made the video in reference to many indie film meet cutes. Others are apparently tagging her when discussing Claire.

She also has an unrealistic amount of free time

I suppose so. But I was thinking less about the movie than the performance.

Yeah. I was only talking about what happened at the ceremony. There is murmuring which I guess could be boos, but it’s mostly cheers. And after her speech I only hear cheers. And the Wayne stuff seems to have been very much exaggerated. I don’t know anything about what happened to her after though.

I remember reading years ago that she wasn’t actually Native American. This was long before she died, but somehow that factoid got erased from the collective memory over the years.

There is no way anyone could make an animatronic that looks like Marisa Tomei - either then or now. Even the Disney Imagineers wouldn’t stand a chance.

I agree. I remember being absolutely gobsmacked when Bullock was getting Oscar buzz for the award and then she actually won. Even taken that it wasn’t a great year for Actress performances (give it to Sidibe, probably), it’s a ridiculous decision.

One of my movie-watching points of pride is that I got to see Oldboy in the theater. According to boxofficemojo it peaked at 28 theaters in the US. I don’t live in a major market so I felt fortunate that I got to see it. There were four of us in the theater, including my friend and I. It was incredible.

I never saw The Happytime Murders. But I did enjoy Greg the Bunny.

Yeah I remember reading that the opening number was lower than expected. I figured it would be a slow burn, similar to Fallout, but it has fallen off a lot faster. It seems to have high critic and audience scores on Metacritic and RT, but maybe it’s not getting repeat visits.

Barbie and Oppenheimer opened the week after Mission. They even moved Mission screenings up, which helped the initial days. But Barbie and Oppenheimer just sucked up everything once they opened. It just didn’t stand a chance. As a fan of the movies, I hope Part II gets a more favorable release spot.

Hmmm interesting. But if most of the B&W stuff is Strauss that means his part is pretty much the only objective part? And the bulk of the movie is subjective? I don’t really get why Nolan would do that. Maybe I’ll have to watch it again once it comes out on streaming.

I was finally able to see it. I did watch it in 70mm IMAX and I agree that the format didn’t really seem necessary. It looked really good (maybe the 70mm made a difference), but many of the full IMAX scenes were just regular ole scenes.

Wow. I did not get that at all. Maybe I’m just dense. I thought he was just trying to indicate points in time, which I found to be not especially effective. The reality seems wholly unnecessary, as their different POVs were never really in doubt.

That was my biggest criticism as well. The stuff with Downey didn’t need to be in the movie, like, at all. They could’ve done some much more with Oppenheimer’s life after the bomb if they’d dropped Downey.

Now, now. It wasn’t that bad.

All Your Kill Are Belong To Us

Yeah, I’m interested in the format, but wonder if the movie actually makes good use of it. I saw 2001 in IMAX a few years ago and it was great. But that’s 2001...

I never would’ve guessed they were 20 years apart (or the same with Atwell). My favorite comparison for that movie is that Tom Cruise was older in Rogue Nation and Wilford Brimley was in Cocoon. I know plastic surgery or whatever, but it’s ridiculous how he looks and what he’s doing at his age.
