TBH, I’m only watching the show for my kid. More of it doesn’t really sound very appealing. I think I’ll just stick with this write-up. haha
I haven’t seen The Green Knight, but Lowery directed the remake of Pete’s Dragon. I thought that was good. And as Dowd noted, a good case for a remake as the original wasn’t considered all that highly.
My kid really likes The Mandalorian, but he had no interest in the Boba Fett show. I didn’t either so we never watched it. Apparently we needed to? That’s obnoxious.
This was actually an original character, though. Carano wasn’t a very good actor, but at least her character wasn’t just ported over from some other Star Wars property. Even the two main characters are derivative of long-time fan favorites. If they really believed in her story they’d just recast her.
I saw this comment before I read the list and didn’t realize it was in response to a mistake. I thought Kieran instead of a Rory was just another reason Roman was more despicable. And I thought, “yeah, good point.”
Well, yeah. There are still a lot of old Star Wars characters and stories for them to incorporate into the show. They can go years without having to develop any original ideas.
They’ve made BASEketball, Team America, and a Mormon musical of some sort. I think there might be more, but I dunno.
I knew nothing going in and maybe I wasn’t listening super closely because in the reveal scene I thought he said his name was Carl. It was filmed very dramatically and I couldn’t figure out why.
I thought the episode was kind of a mess. The opening scene between Nolte and Jones looked like some weird hybrid of a play and the dramatic ending to a movie. By then end they were mimicking the style of an old horror movie. It fit the story; it just didn’t fit with most of what came before it.
Every time I see her name I hear it in my head as Hailey Bailey and think her parents did her a disservice.
haha thank you. I’ll take ridiculous person over being called a Nazi any day.
Yeah, I gotcha. I replied to another poster saying that I chose that term because that’s the term that is often used by conservatives to speak against progressive positions/politics. I was trying to be succinct, but it seems my original comment was unclear to a number of folks.
I just went with woke as the generic term for conservatives’ disagreements with progressive positions/politics. It’s the term they use regularly (“go woke, go broke”). To pretend that progressive positions in movies isn’t an issue for some moviegoers is to be willfully blind. Disney can choose to ignore them of…
I don’t know why I’m a ridiculous person. Those are the reasons that I have seen come up over and over when this movie is discussed. And I listed three, btw. It doesn’t really matter if one agrees or disagrees. But as the guy running the show, it’s his responsibility to take an honest assessment of why people didn’t…
Stupid premise. A different Buzz (not Tim Allen). “Woke” stuff.
Well stated. The actual research behind these interventions is shaky at best. And most of the highly publicized studies don’t show results much better than “the kids didn’t get worse.”
I’m 100% in the Hulk cult. I think it’s great and better than most of the comic book movies that have come since.
If they can’t find new fans to replace those who fall off, then it’s a problem financially. Or if fans are mostly sticking around for the holdover characters, then that could be a problem. That’s the category I’m in.
Among those you list, there were only two movies (Spiderman and Black Panther) and one series (Falcon) I thought were worth watching. Maybe I’m missing out on masterpieces, but I just don’t care as much anymore. They can obviously get new viewers to replace me though.
