All the pilots actually flying the f-35 say the completely opposite. The F-16 can’t out turn, out run, or out shoot an F-35 and the F-35 is still not even optimized.

Save a trillion? If you cancel the F-35 you still need to replace the aging fighters. The trillion dollar price tag was for 3k fighters, fuel, replacement parts and maintenance hours over the next 40 years.

The F-18Cs are the things that need to be replaced sooner than later. The F-35s are being delivered already. To cancel it is absurd. It’s already in service with 3 different countries with production lines in Italy, the USA and Japan now producing jets.

The F-35 is replacing both. The marines are accepting deliveries and training squadrons, it doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s like you have no understanding of air combat. The F-35 in stealth mode is better than any other jet at “dog fighting” except the F-22.

Once the threats are gone it can slap on hardpoints and carry more ordinance than an A-10.
