It really does - in particular is the absence of (a lot of) sound - the whole introduction (up until meeting Alyx) is really quiet, which adds to that overbearing sense that, well, you probably shouldn’t be on the streets. Exceptional opening to a game.
Looks really nice! I still think Half-Life 2 has one of the best openings in gaming. It does an amazing job of pulling you into its dystopian world.

Is FF14 really that good? I played it when a realm reborn launched at got to about level 25 before I headed back to WoW. I just subbed again a week or so again to give it another shot, currently level 11 or 12 I think but I’m unsure if I’ll stay.
Not to play devil’s advocate here, but the Gamecube was actually more graphically powerful than the PS2. People often forget that. The lackluster sales of both the N64 and Gamecube made Nintendo rethink their approach to home consoles, and thus the current approach of underpowered-but-totally-unique began.
