I think your argument doesn’t hold when compared to the studies listed in this article. Owning the firearm raises your chances of getting injured or injuring a friend/family member. It’s not precautionary - it’s additional risk.

No he wouldn't; Vader wasn't originally planned to be Luke's father. As another poster pointed out, it would've made the prequels radically different had the Japanese actor been retained for the role.
